BMW to bring the C Evolution to the US
« on: September 12, 2016, 10:03:37 AM »
Now this is interesting.  I bet that BMW dealers will be beating their heads against a wall when the C Evolution arrives at their shops.  Training their techs and keeping them around when fully trained is already a big issue for BMW dealers and getting something something like the C Evolution is going to be seen as a real headache, especially as the BMW motorcycle salespeople that I have talked with, don't think electric scooters will sell in enough quantities to make it worthwhile to carry them.

But if you are a technician trained in working on electric vehicles, there are going to be plenty of new car dealerships that will be very interested in hiring you to work in their shop on their electric cars and will be willing to pay a lot more compensation for your services than will a motorcycle dealership. It is going to be a difficult number of years for U.S. motorcycles dealerships as they slowly come to grips with marketing, servicing and repairing electric motorcycles and scooters that will be slowly introduced by the major brands to address federal and state "carbon footprint" pollution regulations.

Unfortunately I have to agree. The number of Victory dealerships carrying the Empulse in the Philly area= 0.

OTOH, I see lots of rented e-scooters in San Francisco, despite lots of negative reviews of the rental company's performance in the customer-service arena.

Even with this rental presence, I agree that OWNING an expensive e-scooter is a whole different ball game. Outside San Francisco with it's well-off techies, I can't see it taking off in the rest of 'Merica, at least anytime soon.

This June was the largest U.S. consumption of gasoline ever recorded.

And still there wasn't enough gas tax money generated to fix our highways.   ::)
