Ultracapacitors again
« on: December 19, 2019, 09:37:00 AM »
Here is an ultracapacitor manufacturing startup that is touting their product by showing a futuristic motorcycle that could use their ultracapacitors in its design.  Unfortunately, it looks more like a computer construct and less like an actual vehicle. However, its design is kind of interesting and rather stylish.  Definitely a French design.  As usual in these sort of announcements, the company appears to be trolling for investors. The ultracapacitors are said to be able to store up to 100 watt-hours at a time in this concept motorcycle and would be recharged during regeneration braking.

The motorcycle shown in this article appears to be more of a hook for the reader. This is the real story from the company: "NAWA Technologies

 One last try. This time with just the link. Apparently, I am being limited in the amount of characters that I can post.   ???   https://electricmotorcycles.news/nawa-racer-is-powered-by-the-world-first-hybrid-battery-system/

Here's another website

Sounds like interesting stuff.  You can have a sudden butsts of acceleration maybe smooth out voltage dips when you open up the throttle hard.  Was riding the empulse the other day at 30% SOC and it was conplaining about low voltage when I went wot.  But how far can you go on .1kwh?  Not very far until it needs to be replenished.

For me, .1kWh will get me about 1/10 of a mile.  About as far as I can push my bike.   ;)

Interesting it makes the regenerative braking more efficient is it's trick.  They're claiming 186 miles range sounds promising but I'm wondering what the conditions are to get that range.

Although the article says they have actually built one, I agree that the images show only a computer graphic. The giveaway: In all images, the bike is standing perfectly vertically with no sign of supporting stand.

Maybe it uses gyros? ::)

While I think the technology of supercapacitors could be really useful to capture more of the regenerative energy lost in  braking, I'm not holding my breath on this iteration.

If you read the entire article to the bitter end, it appears that the company is more in to making ultracapacitors instead of a motorcycle - or any other vehicle, for that matter.   ::)

I think they are trolling for investors and perhaps future customers.   ;)

Some more info from NAWA's website, but yeah it's like a concept vehicle that hasn't made it off the drawing board/computer yet.
