Kawasaki EV Project
« on: November 06, 2019, 03:19:38 PM »
OH SHIT the day is coming!  Kawasaki is building an EV motorcycle they're not playing around they mention it along with their supercharged motorcycles.  Japanese electric motorcycle will become a reality in the near future!

From the video I gather that it has DC fast charge capability because they show a CHADEMO port.  It's going to a have gears and it has a separate regen thumb throttle.

Got these pictures from their facebook.  It looks like they are going with the Brammo philosophy and have it be similar to a traditional motorcycle as possible.

Looks like it's based off a smaller Ninja.  It definitely very stealthy looking.  Small brakes but you don't need big stoppers if you've got good regen.

You can see CHADEMO port right here so it is capable of DC fastcharging!

It has a small radiator also so something is liquid or oil cooled on the bike.  You can see some kind of sight glass on the bottom right also.

Here is the powertrain.  Looks like it has a 4 speed transmission that's about the right amount of gears.

This is a picture of the master safety plug.  It reminds me of the one on the Toyota Prius battery.

These look like some kind of diagnostic ports on top of the CHADEMO port.

That is interesting. Kawasaki certainly has the engineers and manufacturing ability to build a killer electric motorcycle. If they market it, Honda is soon to follow.  Let's keep our fingers crossed that this is a pre-production bike and not just a technology demonstrator.
current bikes: 2018 16.6 kWh Zero S, 2011 Royal Enfield Bullet 500 Classic, 2009 BMW F650GS, 2007 BMW R1200R, 2005 Triumph T-100 Bonneville, 2002 Yamaha FZ1 and a 1978 Honda Kick 'N Go Senior.

Those skinless photos tell a story....  A very, very serious motorcycle....  My money was on Honda, but Kawasaki is certainly up to the task....

Yes it definitely looks like Kawasaki is not playing around.  Kawasaki has been killin it with their bikes lately but no word of electric vehicles.  You'd figure Kawasaki builds all sorts of equipment other than motorcycles like robots so they'd have the tech and experience.  Then this just comes outta nowhere.  But I'm assuming the Big 4 are just waiting for the right time when electrics are in demand and costs come down.  Surprised they released so many pictures I mean you've probably never seen a Lightning Strike naked before.

The latest news is that Kawasaki has developed an electric motorcycle as a technology demonstrator, but apparently has no plans to market the bike, or any electric motorcycle in the near future:

Kawasaki has lately been spitting out very short teaser videos regarding their electric motorcycle concept project. Here is one of them that seems to suggest that their EV has a (likely off their shelf) transmission:

Hopefully, it will have less of the "slop" that some Empulse riders complain about.
