LiveWire One production news
« on: August 03, 2023, 08:38:33 AM »
H-D's LiveWire One sales are slumping. Only 33 units sold during the last quarter. But the brand is still hanging in there:  https://www.motorcycle.com/bikes/features/key-takeaways-from-harley-davidsons-q2-2023-report-44593087
current bikes: 2018 16.6 kWh Zero S, 2011 Royal Enfield Bullet 500 Classic, 2009 BMW F650GS, 2007 BMW R1200R, 2005 Triumph T-100 Bonneville, 2002 Yamaha FZ1 and a 1978 Honda Kick 'N Go Senior.

Hi, that was an interesting article Richard. I'm surprised sales have fallen to those numbers. All the reviews show the bike as an interesting and well made product. Reporters do complaint about the onboard level 1 charger but since you use that at home I don't really see that as a big deal.
Do you have thoughts or numbers for Energica or Zero sales for the same period?
Harley in the UK has reduced it's dealer network. A Livewire One is 22 thousand pounds here. I've not seen one.

Being a privately-held company, Zero keeps its production figures a secret, if they can. Apparently they do have to provide sales numbers for some EU countries like France, due to regulations there. Those numbers will show up now and then. I haven't heard anything so far this year. My guess would be that Zero sales are around 5K a year, but I really have no idea. However, keep in mind that Zero is moving all production, except for the U.S. market, to the Philippians, so that may cut production numbers this year. The bikes assembled in the Philippians will be sold in the rest of the world, other than NA. Bikes destined for NA will still be assembled in Scotts Valley, according to recent forum posts that I have read.

I haven't heard anything about Energica sales.

The LiveWire One sales are likely impacted by the few dealers for the brand and the lack of any promotion of the bikes by H-D that I have seen.

I've attached the  UK motorcycle registrations for June 23. Shows 12 Livewire One's were registered. For these the number does probably mean sold and not just for demonstrators. ( Thousands of  new cars and vans are registered and then sold at auction as nearly new  with delivery mileage only )
I've added up the information from January to June23 and 34 BMW CE04 were registered, also 154 Surron LightBees with the UltraBee gaining ground fast at more than 80.
It is possible to see UK motorcycles numbers by make and model however the results can be inaccurate.
In 2022 Zero sold 500 bikes in the UK, best seller was SR/F at 78, however 108 bikes were shown as ' model unknown' .
My Brammo was added to the 'other' category as none were registered. July numbers out soon.
