Best Buy W.L.A. No Longer EV Displayer
« on: November 08, 2010, 08:57:46 PM »
I stopped at the West Los Angeles Best Buy, which is one of the larger stores and was displaying the Brammo Enertia as well as several other electric bike and scooters, and all the two wheeled electric machines were gone from the floor. The entire section that had the bikes and accessories like helmets, gloves, locks, had disappeared.

I asked three people about the Brammo and none had any idea what a Brammo was, so I said "big electric motorcycle" and one guy said "oh, there is one in the stereo installation garage," which was closed at 3:30 in the afternoon.

Two other sales people said they never heard of a Brammo Enertia and when I explained what it was one still didn't know anything about it and the other one said that they might have one in their smaller Westwood store a few miles away or maybe the El Segundo store. I asked if he could check and instead he said I could go to the computer department and try to get online and go to the Best Buy website. I went to the computer department but was unable to get to the internet with any computer.

I just checked the Best Buy website from home and it lists the Enertia as a "pick up in store only" at the West Los Angeles and El Segundo stores. So, it looks like you can order and pick it up from these two stores, but you can't look at one, at least at the W.L.A. store. Maybe there is one in the garage where they install stereos as one person claimed, and maybe you can test ride it, but they have odd hours in that garage.

Whoa... sounds very science-fictiony - Like in Orwell's "1984" when a new alliance was formed and the Ministry of Truth would go to work, revising history.

I wonder if the proximity of Hollywood Electrics to this store (about 5 miles) had something to do with it.  I'm sure the number of people seeing the banner ad for HE at the top of this page (if you don't see it, reload the page) had a HUGE impact on the number of sales shifting from Best Buy to HE.

I liked that one....

As far as Hollywood Electrics, I always tell people to go there for any two wheel electric that they might be interested in, especially the Brammo. But as of a few months ago, even Harlan said he had to put the sale through Best Buy for his customers which was a little cumbersome. Hopefully that will change soon, if it hasn't already.

UPDATE:

Not only has the West Los Angeles Best Buy (which was the only Best Buy in Los Angeles to stock the Enertia and give test rides) stopped showing the Enertia on the sales floor, they have stopped test rides as well.

I went to the store last week to see if the Enertias which were moved to the stereo installation bay at the back of the building were still there and available to ride and I was told that they are about to be shipped to stores outside of Los Angeles and there will be no more test rides in Los Angeles stores.

They said maybe the Redondo Beach or Torrance stores will allow test rides. For now, the only place in Los Angeles to see and ride an Enetria may be Hollywood Electrics, which is not a bad thing. I'd rather buy from Harlan, wouldn't you?
