Brammo styling analysis in Motorcycle Consumer News
« on: March 14, 2011, 05:44:43 PM »
On pages 38 and 39 of the April 2011 issue of Motorcycle Consumer News is an article by Glynn Kerr, a prominent motorcycle industrial stylist, discussing the design of most of the current production electric motorcycles. He seems to prefer the design of the MotoCzysz, followed by the Mission R and the Brammo Empulse.

Regarding the Brammo products he says:

"Purposeful Brammo Empulse features its high-tech battery compartment".

Also mentioned are the Brammo Enertia which: "suffered from its heavy, flat-sided bodywork".

Just keep in mind that this fellow is a consultant who is paid to design new motorcycle models for major manufacturers, so your opinion may differ from his.

If money wasn't an object you can get styling like the MotoCzysz. Personally, that sounds like comparing A maserati to a civic. Of course the Maserati is going to win. Now compare the civic hatchback to a vw golf and you can start making real comparisons.
If we're going to discuss the design and style aspects of the Empulse and the Enertia let's compare them to something closer, like the bikes from Zero.

Well, since you asked...here is what Glynn Kerr had to say about the Zero: "The early Zero S looked heavy, with uninspired integration of the battery. The X/MX are better."

I think that analysis of the zero's styling is spot-on.  Regarding the Empulse, the only thing I'm not too fond of is the bodywork below & behind the seat.  Looks a little too wide/low; I'd prefer something more like the tailsection from the second-generation Yamaha R1:
