Engadget: BRD RedShift electric motorcycle
Another pair of electric motorbikes on the scene. A bit on the expensive side (15K) and looking way too much like a cross bike, for my taste. From the article they're supposed to be available late 2012. Pre-order now.

(If only Brammo could deliver my pre-order before then... I've been waiting since november 2010 already!)

City Bike (a San Francisco monthly publication) says that BRD has just announced the retail prices for their three models. The motocrosser goes for $14,995, the SM sells for $15,495 and their law enforcement version has no published price.

My guess is that it is a lot easier and cheaper to design, manufacture and sell an off-road motorcycle than get a DOT approved street bike OK'ed by the Federal and State governments. For a small company, getting those approvals is probably pretty daunting - although Electric Motosports managed to do it with their GPR-S model. That always amazed me, based upon my personal experience with the company principals.
