Darth Vaders' TIE fighter scream would be OK with me. 8)
10" dia. sub woofer mounted above headlight(cage window level) with Terminator beat.
18-wheeler air horn mounted at same level as optional sub woofer.
Pair of tweeters playing recording of chic contantly screaming in Sci-Fi flick
ULTRA- BRITE STROBE LIGHT FROM HELL setting on headlight.
I'll take strobe and  Terminator sub-woofer options please....... :o

WAIT!!    I mean for the cool, fun factor of an engine, NOT for safety.

I love riding a quiet bike, not that I haven't had plenty of loud ones, but maybe this will work for the "loud pipes save lives" crew.

That Turbospoke is silly, but actually a rather clever design.  No batteries, it uses a card that mounts to the frame, and the spokes against the card make the sound.  However, (and here's the clever part), the other thing that mounts to the frame is a megaphone that looks a bit like a muffler.

This invention could put electric motorcycles:
a)on the map
or
b) back, about 20 years.

I'm going with (b).

To be honest, I don't think e-bikes need any more noise makers. Here is a little footage from work yesterday: 200kW Electric Motorcycle Testing

That was actually a noise immunity test on our BMS using Airtech Streamlinings land speed record bike that we helped design and build. The bike runs at 450vdc a

nd has no shielding or dc line filtering, otherwise known as hell for the BMS.

The bike uses a UQM drive system and a custom design/built battery pack using around 1100 A123 cells. We are still working out some bugs in the motor controller and other supporting systems. Its current best run was 196mph at the mojave mile but has plenty more room to run once the chassis gets diled in.

If you love your job, you never work a day of your life.

There will never be a production sportbike with this kind of power. But brammo is on the right track, I can see maybe 100-120kw bikes in 5 years taking over the liter bike market. The Empulse is looking like a really good start and i can wait to ditch the gas pump!

Never say never. We're on the first generation of motors that are meant for motorsports. Industrial applications have a whole slew of other requirements that are not relevant for a bike motor.

Check out the sound of Lightning zooming around Chuckwalla Valley Raceway:

(And just for kicks, here's the same bike from the point of view of a chaser.)

Chase bike definitely gains on the braking and corner speed, but the lightning seems to be able to match or better on acceleration!

I think that the Lightning may have been deliberately taking it easy so that the chase bike could keep pace with it. After all, the video was to show off the bike, so a video seeing the Lightning take off, never to been seen again, wouldn't be all that interesting!
