47 mph winds are crazy. I think I'd probably stay home..

I did notice when I was riding in a thunderstorm thursday.. the S was being pushed around a little bit more than my gas bike. Sometimes the extra weight doesn't hurt..

Yep...it is rare that I want a heavier bike (less range, not as nimble)... But today I was wishing that either the bike or me was 100 pounds heavier....

Well probably not so much me :)

Well I didn't get to do any warm weather testing :)

back to 32 degrees this AM and Yesterday:

from the Albuquerque Journal:

Quote
Spring in Albuquerque is usually windy, but Sunday was dramatic: dust blotting out the sky, trees falling on top of cars, roofing and porches peeling away from homes, airplanes turned away or grounded for hours, downed power lines causing fires and leaving thousands in the dark.

Gusts were as high as 66 mph at the Albuquerque International Sunport, said Todd Shoemake, a National Weather Service meteorologist. Some reports told of gusts as high as 72 mph near Cedar Hill and Tramway, he said, and 76 mph in Edgewood.

I did ride for 11 miles yesterday...it was "interesting" :)

Not my favorite ride...

That's what makes you such a great tester, Gavin. It's more of a case of "how long can I ride in this weather?" rather than "only a crazy person would ride in this weather!" (Or perhaps you say that too, and then admit that you're crazy!)  ;)

Nah, if he were truely crazy he'd use words like "inspiring", "fun", "invigorating", or my personal favorite "elemental"

No...I mostly just judge my rides on "survivability" :)

Minus 5 degrees....I can survive that.

50 mile per hour winds....I can survive that.

Buckets of rain and hail...I can survive that...hopefully :)

5 miles of ice between me and work...I can survive that...if the cars don't kill me.

So far so good....

Yesterday I was called into work at the worst part of the wind...I grabbed my helmet and my wife said,

"Honey, You have a car."

My reply,

"Yeah? So?"

I was actually confused for a moment....then..."Oh, doofus, she thinks I should take the car...nahhhh"

It is never my first consideration...the car is for date night and that's about it.

I'm happy to report the Zero S can also survive hail ; )

I've only driven in hail a few times. My biggest concern wasn't the vehicle being smashed by the hail so much as the thousands of little balls of ice that were gathering under my wheels. It made the road suddenly a lot more slippery. :o If you all want to ride in hail, then you're braver than I am. Happily, hail is pretty rare in Florida. ;D

Hail is one of the only weather conditions that I'm willing to pull over and wait for it to pass. That stuff scares me.
