Anybody care to share their insurance info?
I went to Progressive and was pretty impressed that they had the Brammo Enertia in their pre-populated list of insurable bikes.

Not sure how this will come out... just copied and pasted from my email.

Thanks for posting your insurance information. This will be very useful to me.

In MA, we pay a much higher rate for auto/motorcycle insurance than most other parts of the USA. I am paying over $700 a year to insure my Enertia. This is primarily due to me being a new rider with only a motorcycle permit. When I get my license next month, I will switch my insurance to something that costs less. I will get a quote from Progressive Insurance and post it here.

I called progressive a couple days ago for a quote. It's $12.00 a year more then my current bike (2008 Ninja 250). I was expecting it to be less...

All the best,

I'm on Geico.com right now, getting a quote. Hey Phantom, I think Massachusetts has a problem.  Here's the first thing you see on Geico, underneath the "Start a new insurance quote" :
Quote
GEICO® Motorcycle insurance is not available in Delaware, Massachusetts, Michigan, and New Hampshire
So, here's the coverage... I tried to keep it at close as possible to Progressive's coverage:
Quote
Coverages   Limits
    2010 BRAMMO Enertia
Bodily Injury Liability(BI)   $50,000 / $100,000       $28.00
Property Damage Liability(PD)   $25,000       $20.00
Medical Payments(MED)   I decline this coverage       $0.00
Uninsured Motorist(UM)   $25,000 / $50,000       $48.00
Underinsured Motorist(UIM)   I decline this coverage       $0.00
Comprehensive(COMP)   $250 deductible       $100.00
Collision(COLL)   $250 deductible       $387.00
Towing(TOW)   I accept this coverage       $7.00

And here's the cost:
Quote
Harry,
Your quote below is for 12 months of coverage. You can adjust the cost of your policy by changing your coverage.

6 Payments
$92.50 a month
-Start for as little as $151.50
or
Pay in full
$590.00

Note: There may be additional service fees which vary by state and the payment plan you select. Additional state or local charges apply in some locations.

Wow... $370 more than Progressive.  I went back and increased the deductible on the collision and comprehensive to $500 from $250, and it brought it down to $558.

I'll see what else is available and post it when I find it.

Aaron,

This is likely due to the fact that the value of the Enertia is higher than that of a Ninja 250, which are able to retail at a very low price due to the massive volumes they sell as Kawasaki's most popular model.  Just a guess though...

Hey Phantom, I think Massachusetts has a problem.

Actually, there are a lot of problems. :)

The insurance companies were regulated for a very long time to charge everyone high insurance in MA. There was no price competition for insurance, so it did not matter where you bought it , as it would cost the same at other insurance companies.  Only recently has that changed, but I am sure that insurance companies pay more to insure MA drivers, which drives the cost higher to MA consumers.

Got cha. However this is a liability only policy. The value of the bike should not be a factor. I have never had full coverage my entire life.

Re: Full Coverage.

I was wondering about this, Aaron.  So let's say you own a Brammo outright (no creditor involved to require full coverage).  You only keep liability coverage?  What would you do if your Enertia was destroyed or stolen? Besides cry, of course.

Yes, I keep liability only. I've done so with 2 new Corvette's and also a CTS-V. I figure if I crash it's my own damn fault. It's saved me alot of money over the years in Ca! If I own a Brammo and it gets stolen, yes my only recourse is crying.

All the best,
Aaron Lephart

Having set up the insurance coverage for Brammo products with the various insurance companies I can tell you that the primary drivers of the premium are capacity of the engine, zip code and your credit score. Most of the companies rate the Enertia as a 250cc equivalent. The value of the motorcycle is much less important and the cost of repairs doesn't even factor into the discussions. Then the rider factors other than credit score come into play such as age, convictions and claims history,

It pays to shop around and consider policies that include other benefits such as roadside recovery.

Oh my... it's that neurotic Progressive Insurance lady.
Did Brammo approve this ad?  If so, you should be ashamed of yourselves.  That's no "scooter."

I called Riders Insurance today and they had no idea how to right the policy.  They said they would get back to me.  I insured two other bikes with them and they were usually the cheapest.  Called Geico and was quoted $ 230 for the year.  I'll let you know how I make out with Riders.

Have you tried Progressive?  It was really easy, very customizable, fast.

Figured I would get at least three quotes.  Geico, Riders, and Progressive.

Okay. Geico $ 230.00 liability only.  Progressive liability only $ 214.00.  Waiting on Riders.
