What questions would you ask?
« on: April 03, 2012, 09:53:08 AM »
If you had the chance to ask some questions about the Empulse, what would they be?
Let's rule out the obvious ones of price and date of availability.

How fast is the acceleration from a stop to 60mph?
How cold can you safely charge and operate the Empulse?
Is there a center stand option?
What are the financing terms?
Will fairings be an option from Brammo?
Will saddlebags be an option?

Are passenger pegs standard or an optional accessory?
Does the onboard charger have a IEC type socket in addition to the J1772 inlet? Can the IEC socket accept either 110v or 220v AC power?
Does the bike use a DC-DC converter for 12v output? What is the continuous power from the converter? Is a 12V socket still standard?
What battery capacities are being offered? How long are the batteries expected to remain useful, both in miles/cycles and in calendar age?
What's the bike's final wet weight? How much does the transmission weigh? (as far as the "integrated" transmission can be broken out)
What are the gearing ratios?
What's the motor's peak and sustained power output? Maximum RPM? What RPM ranges are best to keep it in both for efficiency and maximum power?
Can the bike be operated from 0 mph to vmax in a single gear if the owner chooses?
How hot can you safely charge and operate the Empulse?
What components are liquid-cooled? Charger, controller, batteries, motor? Does the radiator have/need an electric fan mounted for cooling while stopped? (primarily for charger)

Is Brammo offering a trade-in plan for Zeros? : )

To expand on protomech's question:
Please explain how to use the transmission to get the most range from the battery. I know that to get the most range with an ICE, I just have to  keep the transmission at the highest gear, and the engine turning at the lowest speed without stalling. I expect an electric motor to be different, but how? Will the energy consumption be different when I'm going 35 mph with the 1st gear compared to the last gear?

Most of my commute is on the freeway so my question is: How many miles can I go at freeway speeds averaging about 70mph?

To be honest, I don't think anyone really knows anything about the Empulse at this point. So, everything about it is "questionable"? ???
But I'll give it a shot:

Will it come with clip-ons or will I have to install them myself?
Will it have a good financing plan to substitute the lost/non-existent incentives in many states?
Will it be available in Polaris dealers?
And finally, will anyone from Brammo answer any of our questions posted here (BrammoBrian? Thespecialone? Anyone?)?

Will there be provision to add on a luggage rack?
Will the luggage rack hold a top box?
Can hard side bags be mounted to the rack?
If not, to the frame?
Can they be quickly removed?
Will there be a windshield option?
Will there be an adjustable windshield option?
Will any 12V plug support a heated jacket and heated grips? (100W)
Will there be a viable training plan implemented for after-sale support from local dealers?

Is there a fairing option? If so, does it come in a shiny finished carbon fiber to match the front fender and can I have the windshield tinted a light smoke? (It'll look good on my black 10.0)  ;D

Will the Empulse be compatible with a fast charging network like in IL? (full charge in <15 min)  ???

Is my local service tech trained and certified by Brammo?

If a few years down the road my battery capacity has diminished enough that I would consider replacing it but better battery tech is available will Brammo retro fit the new tech for my Empulse?

Is there an APP for that? (whatever "that" is)  :P
