Steve seemed to have really good speed coming out of the last corner onto the straight.  The straight is a half mile long and very wide (part time dragstrip).  He must have hit top speed mid way down the straight.  On the other hand... it's difficult to compare speed with no other bikes around him and no noise.

My one track experience was at Thunder Hill a few years ago. Got my brother's GSXR750 up to 145 (indicated) on the long straight. Felt like I was gonna get blown right off the bike... Had to hammer the brakes for turn 1 and my life had flashed before my eyes... had a great time though. After that, everything seemed like it was in slow-mo. Gotta love adrenaline :)

Im sure 147 is just another day in the proverbial rat race for Steve though.
