FORT COLLINS, Colo. - The Fort Collins Police Department is exploring using an electric motorcycle for it's police force.

The motorcycles, built by Oregon-based Brammo Inc., have emergency lights and accessories, said city spokesman Matthew Johnson.

The city is currently using an Enertia Plus LE motorcycle on a trial basis.

Just saw this line in the Ashland newspaper:

Brammo Global Fleet Director Greg Lemhouse said Colorado State University campus police also will run the Enertia Plus through its paces.

I wonder what statistic he's using to determine that Brammo is "the world’s leading manufacturer". I'm pretty sure that Zero has sold more bikes, and there are probably some Chinese bike makers out there that have sold even more than Zero.

Perhaps Brammo will become the world's leader some time soon, but I don't think we there yet.

I really hope that there will be no Empulse police model!
Otherwise us consumers will never get our hands on them...
It seems that the Enertia+'s are all destined for fleets and nothing is shipping to consumers yet

Just saw this story on the local news, KWGN channel 2 (CW). Very cool.

Some interesting tidbits.

Apparently the Enertia Plus LE costs $15k making $10k cheaper (!) than the Harley LE model.

They also mentioned "another Brammo model" with a top speed of "120MPH"... no idea where they got that figure.

The fellas they interviewed had nothing but good things to say about it. Very cool. Whats not cool is apparently they are already handing out tickets on them Ah, the element of surprise.
