Great wrap up of AFM Round 3
« on: June 05, 2013, 04:39:12 PM »

A busy weekend for the crew - Shelina gets to ride the RR for the first time. Boz in the Formula 1 and the 750 Superbike races.  Shelina finds the "edge of traction" and crashes the TTX (minor damage to the bike and minimal to her?)

Now updated with a couple of photos of Shelina on track on the Empulse RR.  I know there are some Shelina fans amongst us... ;)

The fairing of the RR has become very pretty over the years. I hope they will do a production version of it on the production Empulse.

I suspect the Empulse will stay a naked bike.. but it seems like Brammo has been hinting at a production RR.

The basic chassis could remain the Empulse, just look at how many models Honda makes possible of the NC700 platform! Even a scooter model  ;)
Empulse CBF?

Mmmm m mm mmmm m mmmmm.  Brian did hint at race fairings for the TTX in my last interview with him.  She hit 116mph top speed without them at the race.  What could she do with them?

I don't think Brammo would make a production RR...hella expensive.

Now a production TTX with a fairing...that could be possible.

Between Mission and Lightning there's a lot of competition for no doubt very limited numbers of buyers in the $30k+ range. Brutus and Lito Sora too. I'm doubtful all of those bikes will make it to real production anyhow.

A faired Empulse - Empulse F? Empulse FR? would be pretty sweet. I don't think Brammo could go the streamliner a la Terry .. but typical sportbike fairings are fairly aerodynamic. Double up on the chargers, let them use the motor's liquid cooling system and you could have a pretty nice bike for light touring. Say 70+ mile highway range, charge in 1.5 hours from J1772..

The way they talk about it the current Empulse it is basically the 2011 race bike and it looked mind boggling expensive.  I wouldn't count out Brammo's ability to package a bike.  That said I doubt it would have a 300+ voltage system.  I say that.

I think Lightning and Mission have the $30,000+ market wrapped up.  I hope Lightning gets their bikes ready this year so they have a few months of sales to get set before the Missions hit the market.  I have been in the mind set that we won't see another bike from Brammo until 2015.  Some minor updates to the Empulse and Empulse R maybe.  The Energica, which just showed up on a track for the first time, has had deliveries pushed back to 2015.  But they are in that $20,000 bracket.  Not sure where Brammo is headed.  I really felt at one point they were headed for a liter bike slayer for the street.  Don't think they will take the exotica route like Mission has gone.  I see them answering a Ducati Pinagale with a CBR1000RR.  I think one advantage Brammo (and Zero) have is that by the time they do release another bike they will have proven to their suppliers they actually sell these things, and they may get better priority and pricing.  eCRP, Mission, and Lightning all have that to go through still.  Well, Mission probably less than others.

That's my take.

Another view of the 250SB race start from one of the other competitors.  Watch Shelina appear out of nowhere on the right!   :o

And another good one from the Sonoma race.  You can see Shelina blast past coming out of Turn 6 and down the back straight at the 1:29 mark...
