Yeah - it's really difficult to run a fast lap in the ReFuel event for a number of reasons:
1. Very limited track time - 2 sessions allowing maybe 3 full laps before they run the time trial.
2. Time Trial starts at Turn 10, so tires are cool when you start.
3. Track was VERY dirty from the cars (dirt, oil, tire rubber) compared to how clean it will be for the race there.
4. The speed differential between entrants makes it tough to get a clean lap in practice.
On top of this, we ran ReFuel on used tires from the Thunderhill Races and a medium rear, which is too hard for Laguna's smooth track surface. On the trackday, the track was swept in the morning and we moved onto a soft rear. The improvement in lap times was very significant. I'll just say that we ran the fastest times we've ever run at Laguna and did it with good consistency. I can't predict if Rapp's qualifying record will fall as this will be down to track conditions as much as anything. I will say that his race lap record looks in jeopardy.
