LED Light Effects?
« on: November 18, 2013, 08:03:09 PM »
I was thinking of adding some LED light effects to my Empulse. Has anyone else already done this? Now that my commute includes driving in the dark and splitting lanes before I get to the freeway, I'd like to add something that will make it stand out a little more in the dark. Without a loud pipe, I think this would be the next best thing to help the cages see me better.

I have not added straight-up running lights, but I am slowly replacing all the lights on the bike with various LEDs (because why not).  If you need flexible waterproof LED strips, I recommend these guys highly:

Also for general visibility, take a look at the 3M reflective tape from another thread here:

Super good stuff.

I bought these,

I got the $99 kit which is 9 led strips. This seems to be plenty but I haven't installed them yet. I just got the bike operational since that guy backed into it in Sept. Long story for another day coming soon...
I did look to see where I could wire this into and there is a place on the fuse box for running lights. I did want someone from Brammo to tell me where I can wire this safely before I attempt it. Maybe we can find out and get er done?

I haven't narrowed down my search yet, but I think I will be adding some LED strips as a project in a few weeks. I don't need a remote, just a switch is fine by me. If anyone else has already done something like this, let me know. I'd love to see some pics.

Matt (http://brammoforum.com/index.php?action=profile;u=9250) just installed a wheel lighting kit on his 2012 Zero S.  It consists of yellow florescent tape that you stick around the wheel rim and a set of 4 LED lamps that you attach to the forks and swing arm to light the tape up as it passes by the lamps. It is pretty dramatic at night and makes the bike look like a Tron vehicle.  I can't recall the name of the manufacturer, but I believe that one of the motorcycle magazines that I read reviewed the product recently.
current bikes: 2018 16.6 kWh Zero S, 2011 Royal Enfield Bullet 500 Classic, 2009 BMW F650GS, 2007 BMW R1200R, 2005 Triumph T-100 Bonneville, 2002 Yamaha FZ1 and a 1978 Honda Kick 'N Go Senior.
