CRG adjustable brake/clutch levers.
« on: March 05, 2014, 07:39:27 PM »
I think I posted this awhile ago, so just posting again to keep our new owners informed.

The brake and clutch master cylinders on the Empulse and Empulse R are compatible with model year 2008+ Ducati Monster 696 adjustable levers.  For CRG RC2s, the part numbers from the Parts Unlimited catalog are:

0613-0706 for the clutch lever in black
0614-0585 for the brake lever in black

Nearly any motorcycle dealer (not just Brammo dealers) could order these parts with these part numbers.

I ordered this from Amazon---

Trying out the shorty...if I like it it will get the brake lever to match

Yes.  If anybody needs an endorsement, the RC2s are totally great.  One of the first things I did; I think I've had them for like a year now.  I personally went with a shorty brake and regular clutch and I still love them.

Ha...I was thinking I might go shorty clutch and regular brake...

But if I like the shorty clutch, I'll probably match it with a shorty brake...

I am hoping to do the clutch this weekend...just depends on shipping.

I went with that arrangement because I usually only use two fingers on the brake (especially with the excellent Empulse brakes), while I use all four for the clutch.  For whatever reason that combo fits me perfectly.

Here's a shot from awhile back where you can see em:

I went with the CRG shorty for both and LOVE THEM!  They look really great on the APEX 3" adjustable clip-ons and CRG hindsight bar end mirrors. Now if I could get some rear sets to go with that would be great!

Just got mine installed. Took 5 minutes, easy to do. Watch the small little piston on the brake side...it wants to fall to the ground. It is very small and hard to see when it falls out.

Barboo...can you take a close of the little piston...I've put on my clutch...hella easy...but haven't put on my brake as it seems to be missing a bit that goes into the brake diaphragm...it might be that piston I'm missing...which would kinda be bad...don't want to mess with braking...it's kinda important...

Hi Gavin, I should have been more specific...the piston is electric in nature - for activating the brake light. It is in the electric switch that the bolt tightens over. It is very small and black. Other than considering that little item it fit right in without issues. There were no issues with the braking diaphragm itself. You should be good.

I'd fit the lever on and slow ride around the neighborhood to ensure everything (braking/clutch/brake light) works ok.

I'm headed out on a bicycle ride...if you still are concerned I'll take a closer pic. No worries.

These look very cool.

But for other than adjusting for small hands (I wear XL gloves), what riding benefits do they offer?

I usually not one to pass up a farkle, but I have to have some sort of rationalization. ::)

I have small hands so they were a must for me. Stock setup strained my fingers. Being able to reduce the distance has helped a lot and much more comfortable to ride now. I'm finding the clutch easier to shift now as well...probably due to not having to reach as much as before when shifting.

Other than that they're like Rizoma signals...you don't have to have them but you want to cause they look so cool. :)
