Gogoro Smartscooter
« on: January 05, 2015, 10:31:22 AM »
The Gogoro Smartscooter is nothing if not interesting and creative.  But would it be a success in the EV market?   http://www.slashgear.com/gogoro-smartscooter-is-tesla-for-the-everyman-05362021/
current bikes: 2018 16.6 kWh Zero S, 2011 Royal Enfield Bullet 500 Classic, 2009 BMW F650GS, 2007 BMW R1200R, 2005 Triumph T-100 Bonneville, 2002 Yamaha FZ1 and a 1978 Honda Kick 'N Go Senior.

I'd like to see someone pull-off the battery swapping concept, other than that the scooter seems pretty basic. 30 mph top speed is a major limiting factor, even in cities.

Check out this page, too bad Vectrix went chapter 7 so it never went into production

Here is another story about the Gogoro.  However, I am not too sure about the performance claims in this report:

The Gogoro scooter concept, with its battery swapping idea is an interesting concept, but would it fly in the marketplace?  And can anyone make money in the long run using any sort of battery swapping infrastructure?  Cleanrider.com is not too sure about the idea and if a company can stay in business using battery swapping. Apparently this has been tried before without much success, as this article by Cleanrider explains:

Yet another story... I like the idea of using the batteries for purposes other than scooting.
