I use a similar product for my heated gloves: http://gerbing.com/collection/12v-lithium-8ah-battery-kit.html.
It seemed easier than finding a 12V power supply on the Empulse.  (I already used the existing one for LED lights).  I would probably put a large 12V lithium in a top case (if I had one) so I could connect the GPS too.

Now here is another idea of what can be done with "pocket" batteries.   :o
