Large motorcycle sales on the skids
« on: August 06, 2017, 05:48:46 PM »
This is likely no surprise to anyone, but large (and expensive) motorcycles sales are dropping, with Harley leading the pack - according to this Bike Bandit blog:
http://www.bikebandit.com/blog/post/large-motorcycles-are-dying-in-the-us-and-harley-davidson-is-dying-fastest

While Harley is mentioned, I wonder how Polaris sales are going with Indian lately, now that the Empulse and Victory have been trimmed from their range.?  They are not exactly giving those things away and I bet not too many millennials are buying them.  ???
current bikes: 2018 16.6 kWh Zero S, 2011 Royal Enfield Bullet 500 Classic, 2009 BMW F650GS, 2007 BMW R1200R, 2005 Triumph T-100 Bonneville, 2002 Yamaha FZ1 and a 1978 Honda Kick 'N Go Senior.

I had heard that the average rider age is in the 30s and 40s.  Its quite surprising.  With Harley the problem is they're like a one trick pony they only make one type of bike for the most part.  For some reason they are wildly popular in Japan from when I went riding there.  That's why you see a lot of manufacturers selling or coming out with new bikes that are cheaper and easier to own nowadays.
