Steel rear sprocket in Europe
« on: September 01, 2017, 08:13:11 AM »
Hi guys,

I am in the process of replacing my chain and sprocket (only 12k km!). I already received a JTF1439-14 and JTF1439-15 for the front sprocket, an 94 links RK chain and an aluminum 42T rear sprocket. I would like a steel rear sprocket but it is not easily available in Europe. So I asked a shop how it would cost to custom fabricate a 42T 520 steel sprocket and surprisingly it is only they charge only 74. They can ship in France, Luxembourg, Netherland, Germany and Swiss (why not Belgium?). If you want to buy it you can go there : http://www.moto24h.com/fr/recherche-accessoires-divers.php they added the item with reference 9990001 for me which is 42T but if you ask them you can have other size on demand.

I asked also if they could fabricate the front sprocket if I send the old one. I will tell you the answer they give me!

Next will be to know if someone could custom made the clutch plates and disk as we will all need to change it eventually and I feel it is going to be difficult to get it from Polaris!

The problem we have is Brammo (and more so Polaris) didn't manufacture many if any of the parts to build these motorcycles in house.  What we need to have is a way of finding out, over time, who supplied the parts for these bikes.  Things like seals and bearings are common. Once someone figures out a part number interchange that fits, the problem is solved.  For example, IET didn't have custom clutch discs and steels made, they bought a part from something that was already in production and fit it into their clutch basket.  Someone manufactured the sprockets for Brammo and most likely it fit something else.  As people find out who made what, we need a place on this forum to catalog and save this information so others can get access to it.

I totally agree with with you and was also thinking of this kind of centralized information. I will start this thread soon with the information I already have if you don't start it before me :)

What we should so, is have someone blueprint it (holes, etc) and send to Sprocket Specialists to make them.

Eh eh, I may be interested if I found the 42T too big but I still did not receive the chain riveting tool to change my chain kit.
