Replacing clutch plates

Has anyone on here replaced clutch plates on an Empulse before? Wondering if there is any special differences between this and a regular ICE bike clutch.

Haven't replaced them.  However in the service manual they look like standard clutch steel and fiber plates.  The biggest problem is getting the clutch cover off.  To do that, you have to remove the motor/transmission assembly (or at least lower it) to clear the rear section of the frame.  When you find out where they come from, lets us know part #'s for future reference.

Yeah, the main thing I was wondering about was the process of doing it, what needs to be pulled etc. Where did you find a service manual? I've only been able to find an owners manual so far.

I Ordered the manual from a Polaris dealer.  It's # is PN 9926260 R01.  I suppose the R01 is the revision #.  Anyway, it has very good details of the transmission disassembly/reassembly along with the removal from the bike.  Once the cover is off, the clutch work is identical to a common motorcycle so it shouldn't be a problem.

Interesting. The dealer I called didn't know how to get one and didnt even have one of their own.

The Polaris dealer should be able to enter the part number in the system and see if it is valid or superseded.  If it is, he can order it.    Doesn't have to be a Victory dealer (not many or any left) just Polaris.  They surely printed more of the service manuals than they ever sold and you would think they would want to get rid of them  8)

A buddy of mine works in the parts department of a Polaris dealer so I will give him a call and see if he can get it.

How much did you pay for your service manual? Price tag is currently $178. Kinda pricey for a service manual. Especially since it isn't something that anyone would typically work on for multiple people any more.

Yes, it was stupid expensive---I paid $168 for it.  If someone has a Brammo manual, that would show you the same things.  In fact, the Victory manual shows the IET motor in the transmission disassembly, not the Parker.  If you can't find a reasonable manual, PM me and maybe we can work something out so you can see the section you need.

Yeah, for $178 I guess I would just continue to reverse engineer it the way I have to figure out what needs to be done for it. ha ha

How many miles did you get till the clutch is toast?  Hopefully a good amount, the clutch should be able to handle all that torque =P

I actually think I have a transmission problem, but wanted to check the clutch first just in case.

Maybe it's time to fire off and e-mail to IET in Italy.  They must have service manuals and parts.  I don't think this transmission is just used by Brammo and may be used in other vehicles.  It's worth a try.
