Central Oregon is on fire
« on: September 09, 2020, 05:08:45 PM »
I just heard the governor of Oregon say that several towns in Central Oregon have been essentially destroyed by fire, including the city of Talent, where I believe Brammo used to have their factory.  Earlier I heard a single radio news report that over 600 homes had been destroyed in Medford, Oregon.  :(

That's awful California is getting ravaged by wildfires as well.  The air quality is so bad I have opted to shelter in place till it blows away.  =(

I had heard that some of the fires in Oregon may have been caused by arson.  Hope that is not the case =(

I heard that pretty much all national forests are closed to the public in Calfornia, its that bad.

I have heard the same. I also understand that the smoke in the SF Bay Area is from the Oregon fire, which is being tossed into the Pacific Ocean and then rotated back here via a low pressure system in southern Oregon and Northern California.  :(

Yeah, it's shit here right now. Horrible air quality (Just got below 400 this morning). Talent was hit hard, but the Brammo building (according to Craig Bramscher) was spared.

Blue river and Vide were completely lost to fire.

I'm in Beaverton, just west of Portland, and the smoke is horrible. I'm considering going to the coast to my inlaws house for a few days just to get away. I'm asthmatic and it's burning right now, even with a filter running 24/7 in our bedroom and office.

Stay safe, Travis.  I've been thinking of you and the other Oregonians I know.

After experiencing a month of unhealthy air in Pacifica, it finally cleared out today. I hear that the smoke is being pushed easterly toward the East Coast and might eventually end up in Europe.  :o

I really feel bad about the fires in Central Oregon and how it is affecting the state's residents. The entire West Coast is really suffering. :(

I heard on the news, that at their worst, combining all the fires in California, Oregon, and Washington, flames were consuming 1000 acres per minute.

Horrifying.

And yes, some smoke has already reached Europe and even Asia.

Check out the fire/smoke map literally the whole west coast is on fire!

Went for a ride yesterday because it had cleared up some and you can still see the smoke obscure downtown San Jose.  =(  Today was much better took a longer ride on my KLR650.  Had to shake the dust off of it.

I just heard on the news that the worst air pollution in the world right now is in Portland, Oregon.  :( I also heard that the West Coast smoke has now blown over the East Coast and parts of Europe.

I'm in Arvada, a western suburb of Denver, and the air quality index has been fluctuating between 90 and 120 over the past few days. Compared to Oregon, I have nothing to complain about. But damn... it's not any fun at all being outside. Basically, I've been staying inside with our HEPA filter device running constantly for the last few weeks.

I hope all you folks who are suffering in California and Oregon are able to get some relief soon.

I heard Yosemite is closed due to air quality
https://ktla.com/news/california/smoky-hazardous-air-forces-temporary-closure-of-yosemite-national-park/

I heard that the AQI in Yosemite peaked yesterday at 830, before settling back down to 755. It was reported that the AQI had dropped to around 350 this morning and is likely to stay very hazardous for the next few days.  No wonder they felt that they needed to close the park.  :(

I had to evacuate my house a week ago after a few days with no power.  After a week the power was restored and were able to return.  I'm happy to report that our air AQI has dropped from dangerous to unhealthy!  It rained a lot last night, including areas of the fire to the east.  I haven't seen a fire update yet.
