Electric motor removal guide for Enertia basic.
« on: April 21, 2021, 08:46:50 AM »
Here's a rough guide on how to remove the electric motor from the legacy Enertia.

1.  Remove all body panels and unplug blue high voltage disconnect.
2.  Remove black circular motor side covers
3.  Elevate/lift bike with a motorcycle lift from underneath metal plate located under the motor.  You want the rear tire off the ground while
leaving the front tire touching the ground for stability.  I also strapped the handlebars to the bike lift to prevent the motorcycle from tipping
     over.
4.  Locate the master link on the chain and disconnect it.  Remove the chain.
5.  Remove the bolt that connects the rear shock to the swingarm.
6.  I believe that I also removed the rear caliper and brake line from the swingarm.
7.  Remove the large swingarm pivot bolt.
8.  Remove/disconnect anything else that connects the swingarm to the rest of the bike.  The rear wheel can stay in place.  Only remove what
you have to for access to the motor.
9.  Remove the swingarm/rear tire assembly.
10. Disconnect the motor cooling fan plug and remove the cooling fan assembly.  I don't remember the exact steps but I do remember
removing the wrong bolts the first time.  Study everything carefully before removal.
11. Locate the five bus bars (silver metal tabs) at the rear of the motor controller.  Label all of these cables clearly prior to disconnecting them.
There should also be black factory heat shrink covering these connections.  Carefully remove the heat shrink.  Once the cables are labeled,
remove the five socket cap bolts from each of the bus bars.
12.  Disconnect the plug on the left side of the bike that goes to the motor.  There are two cables from the motor that go to the single
plug/connector.  One cable is red and the other is black.
connector has a white plastic piece near the release tab.  Pull the white plastic piece away from the connector before depressing the release
       tab.
Take your time and study the connector before attempting to unplug it.
13.  Place a piece of cardboard or something similar between the bottom of the motor and metal frame plate to cushion the motor so it doesn't
drop and freefall when removing the four mounting bolts.
14.  Remove the four motor mounting bolts.  I believe that they are located on the right side of the bike under the black side covers.  These
       bolts were tight.
15.  Carefully remove the motor by working it back and forth until you can pull it out of the rear of the frame opening.  This was not easy.  Take
your time.  Keep in mind that you don't want to damage any of the wiring or connectors that are still attached to the motor as you
remove it.  It is very likely that the cables will get hung up or caught on something as you pull the motor out of the bike frame.  Be
       patient.

That's about all that I can remember.  I'm sure that I've forgotten a few steps, so be careful and don't rush.

This is close to the position that the motor sits when mounted in the bike.

Hey guys,

yesterday I decided to replace my front sprocket. I've heard rattle since few years, but replaced my chain periodicly. My mileage is about 35000 km.

Like sunchaser describted, the motor has to be remove to change the sprocket.

See attached my pictures...
