Loud Horns save lives?
« on: November 09, 2010, 08:54:55 AM »
Any of you ever thought of installing a louder horn on your bike?  I'm thinking that this one is a possibility:

Link to Harbor Freight's product page.

Would like your opinion on:
1. The concept of "loud horns save lives"
2. The difficulty of a layman installing this
Here is a link to the owner/installation manual of the horn.

Oh, and here's a link to the sound it makes. Might want to have your fingers on the volume control when you click that link.  :o

Yes, I have thought about it. I know a guy who attached a fog horn to his bike to be heard when he needed to be heard.

1) Yes, I agree.

2) It would appear to be beyond my comfort level. I would ask Brammo tech support for their advice before trying to do this on my own. I would assume that there may be some particular obstacle because I am not sure how the horn draws electricity on the Enertia.

If another Enertia owner could list out the exact step-by-step instructions for the modification, I might give it a shot.

I have a Stebel Nautilus ( here ) and wiring kit sitting in my garage...I am willing to mail it out to Brammo for them to try out and see if it fits and works with the Enertia Plus...they can even put it on the one they sell me if they like. :)
