Testride in germany - when, where etc.

Hallo, I am interested in a testride of the Brammo Empulse in germany. When will the bike be available here and when ? What is the plan for distribution here in germany and europe ? To understand the Empulse better in advance, I am interested in an download of the manual asap, but could not find on the homepage nor WIKI.

Hi Hans,

I have heard that Flextronics will be manufacturing the Empulse for the European market, but I do not have a timeframe of when it will happen.

I would guess that the Empulse owner's manual will be released when the first production Empulse bikes will be ready. This is expected to be in mid-2011.

What data would you like to see?

Thanks Phantom, as you may know, we germans are a little grazy and more interested in facts/technical datas than in marketing news. So it might be helpful to show as much technical datas as possible p.a. accelleration and the differences through battery weights etc. for the Empulse versions.

Hi Hans,

Brammo lists the 6.0, 8.0, 10.0 weight as 360, 390, 420 lbs.

I have not seen any measured tests for acceleration, yet -- or an indication whether the battery sizes will affect performance (slightly heavier, potentially more powerful).

BrammoBrian recently posted a video of the Empulse RR on track (12.5kwh). The speedometer has not been corrected for gearing, so indicated speeds are somewhat off. Acceleration from an indicated 20-60 mph is approximately 4.3s during presumed WOT, with the altered gearing this could easily be +/- 25% (anywhere from 15-45 mph to 25-75 mph).

Question for Germans: Why is German engineering so slow with EVs?? Germany has suffered from high gas prices much longer than the USA, and Germany has some of the finest engineers in the world. I would think Germany would be first on the EV scene. BUT, it seems like Brammo is the one and only company making cool E-bikes for normal people to use everyday.  ???

I do not understand german engineering ether... I am waiting for an electric bike for daily use and weekend fun and will not buy an classic bike any more.
Even as a former HD-employee and real motorcycle enthusiast I do not understand the delay - wheter for bikes nor for automobiles. I am waiting for this technology since the beginning of the 90 years...

Hi.

Have some news for germany Hans.

You can find Brammo here: http://www.lautlos-durch-deutschland.de

They have only the Enertia yet but the Empulse is announced for 2012.

I will try the Empulse. I dont live in a city. Thats why i want a bike with some power to drive 60 mph and have some reserves to overtake trucks with ease.


And about the question:
The germans want all at once. Cars/Bikes should have the same range, the same performance and same price as with gas. Thats not possible yet (above all e-cars are too expensive for their size and germany is a car country) so they are waiting and moan...
