Headlight change
« on: April 05, 2011, 12:22:54 PM »
I recall reading a statement by BrammoBrian that the headlight is borrowed from a Yamaha MT-03 and that they are developing their own for the production model. What I would REALLY like to see is an LED headlight. How cool would that be? A bonus would be led daytime running accent lights like the new Audis have.

What do you guys think?

I agree!
From what I recall, however, there are no true LED headlights that are DOT approved...but it's been awhile since I searched.

Ah that's right, has to be DOT approved. They need to get on this damnit!

Well the projector style headlamp would be nice to have... possibly an HID option! But thats usually an easy DIY job to switch to an HID lamp. The Tesla Model S headlight uses another neat led accent:

Audi R8, Lexus LS600h (low beams only), Cadillac Escalade, Toyota Prius and Nissan Leaf all have LED headlights as standard or optional equipment (some since 2008). DOT may indeed be slow to approve LED headlamps - but they exist.
