Nice catch!  I guess Brammo gave the "exclusive" to MCN this time.  Congrats to Guy Proctor.
Six speed transmission.

Did anyone notice what looks like a 4wheel ATV behind one of the bikes in the pictures in that article?  Curious.

Holy crap, 4 new bikes! Brammo has one hell of a lineup developing for 2012! I wonder if that 6 speed is gonna make it to the Empulse. Six speed on an electric bike, hmmm... would certainly make me feel more at home to begin with. Very interesting stuff. More of a recreation vehicle than a commuter though, so we may or may not see this in the TCO calculator, waiting for more details.

Im not much of an MX person but the 4 wheel ATV that Brammofan noticed has got me thinking... my wife would not like the thoughts going through my head right now.

actually c is this: zero has major competition.

now comments....very nice looking. love a shifty electric...way cool. battery looks hella small, so I image the range is low. fun little weekend rider.

questions....will the Enertia get a shifty version? probably not, but that would be cool....at least to me :)

Oh, and again I ever so humbly volunteer as a tester....LOTS of off road riding areas here in the high desert. Plus I will test any of the four as both a daily city commuter and as an off-road weekend thrash about. I promise to keep the wheelies to a minimum... :0

good ground clearance...and I see Brian is pimping the Icon gear.

the off road looks to have even higher clearance...they look fairly light, wonder what the weight is? Top speed? range? How fast can one swap the battery? How much are each spare battery? etc etc.

Interesting too that they are still focusing a bit on the American market (good to hear as I was thinking Brammo would go hella hard at Asia, maybe to the partial neglect of us).

These bikes are pure USA bikes...yes some will sell in Europe and Down under...but is a mostly America bike. The small one, priced right would do ok in Asia and India maybe....

But really the Enertia and Plus are primed for Asia and Europe. An EV scooter would also kill in China/Asia and Europe.

But dirt bikes and street sports bikes are mostly Red White and Blue bikes.

Seeing the pollution in China, the restrictions to non ev licenses and the EV incentives, I had lately thought Brammo would just about move to China over the next few years...good to see they are keeping some staff in Oregon :)

gah, gotta get to work and stop watching that video for the 6th time.

heck, I'm not even a "dirt bike guy"* and I want one of those....ha, I need therapy.

Gavin

*mostly a city rider...but I do mountain bike and I do love some puddle jumping...i think I could find some ways to have some fun on this bike. it would be fun to take to camp scoot for sure....

http://campscoot.com/

heck if Brammo wants to bring a few out to camp scoot in August, we would LOVE IT :)

100 scooter riders hanging for 3 days in the Jemez Mountain wilderness...a great photo and video op...just maybe limit the test rides to people who aren't killing off the 5 kegs we bring.

and always looking for sponsors :)

I love the tunnels ride...and only 30 miles round trip from the campsite...

campsite....

Interesting news for sure, but I don't see these being popular in India at least.
It's a very price sensitive market!
One can get regular ICE bikes from 1K-2K albeit these are 100cc-250cc bikes... One could also get  the world's cheapest production car about $2500.
But considering that the speed limits and traffic congestion limit top speeds to about 50kmph(~31mph) or less, one doesn't really need much more there...

As for government incentives, we here in the US have been spoiled by the Feds (and state govs in some cases) giving out tax breaks for tech, like Solar panels, EVs, CNGs etc...
We complain about high mortgage rates, but the truth is, most people in places like India pay about 12% for their mortgage... so the 4.75% 30 year fix my banker offered me yesterday sounds very very cheap!

China on the other hand may be an interesting market, the advantages of being a totalitarian government, to quote engadget "what the Chinese government wants, the Chinese government gets."
http://www.engadget.com/2011/05/02/china-joins-better-place-on-the-battery-swapping-bandwagon/
They are definitely interested in EV tech (and clean nuclear tech for that matter ), and since they seem to be investing in Battery swappable tech, A variant of one of the bikes mentioned here could definitely be something they're interested in (read tax breaks, if they do that sort of thing...)

Yeah, I hesitated to put in India...China is clearly the best low hanging fruit...

But I decided to include them for a couple of reasons...

Huge population. Many Many Many current scooter riders. Growing pollution problem.

And yes they have tons of cheap transportation. But they are a growing economy and they do have a fair sized affluent population. Yes the better off drive cars and often have a driver, but the affluent youth and the growing "middle" class could be future Brammo drivers.

China First in sales. Europe next--Holland and England should gobble the Enertia up. But I wouldn't totally neglect India as a viable sales area. They love them some two wheelers....of course for India Brammo will HAVE to have a 2 person bench seat on the Enertia. 2 is about the average number of riders in India...I have seen 4 and 5 people on a scooter...it is the station wagon of vehicles :)

only 2 1/2 riders...but I like the texting :)
