Brammo Empulse RR to use dual motors?
« on: November 14, 2011, 02:50:10 PM »
I haven't heard a whisper about this until today, where it appeared here:
http://motoelettriche.wordpress.com/2011/11/14/esclusivo-la-brammo-empulse-sara-equipaggiata-da-un-dual-motor-denominato-doppio/

(Be prepared to use "translate").

Given that the big shots are either traveling home from Milan, or traveling to China (Macau GrandPrix is my guess) - based on their twitter clues, anyway - it might be a few days before we get confirmation or denial.

Dual motors on the Empulse RR? That's interesting stuff! Wonder if the same beast is going into the production Empulse?

Well, they've said they needed to significantly increase the motor power to play at the same level as MotoCzysz and Lightning in TTXGP. Mission too, if they choose to return.

I caught something earlier about a plan to double power. Doubling up on the motors would be one way to do that .. though their post indicated to me that they were looking at dumping the existing Parker motor.

So maybe it's two new motors, each with approximately the same power as the current RR's motor.

I'd love to see more power show up in a future Empulse, whether dual motor or (more preferably) a single beefy motor. I'd love more to see them ship the bike. Brammo hasn't not yet stated what motor will be used for the Empulse, so it's open I suppose.

Wow. It looks like there are some very interesting tidbits in that post, Google's translation engine is a little short of helpful however.

http://babelfish.yahoo.com/ seems to produce some more useful results.

Thanks to an interview to Samuele Mazzini head of the S.R.M.E. (present on the channel youtube of the Municipality of Umbertide) we know the ends of the agreements with the house of Oregon Brammo. The S.M.R.E has entered to make part of in exchange for happens them Brammo the exclusive right on the licences of called technology IET (integrated electric transmission) and will produce to the motors for all the range Brammo while the motion will be assembled in America; regarding the Empulse, streetfighter and model of tip, they have been collected 1200 preorders for 2012 and one previews that towards the end of this year the presold threshold of 2000 motion will be caught up already. The future sales forecasts speak about inhale them maximum of 8.000 motion produced per year and are much probable one that this last in Europe will produce our compatriot to them.

"motion" is a translation error, I assume "moto" is translated to "motorcycle".

* SMRE is producing the motor as well as the IET. Makes sense if it is truly integrated.
* Final assembly in America.
* 1200 preorders for 2012 production
* A mention of a threshold of 2000 preorders.. not sure what this is for. Doubt they're going to presell an extra 800 by year's end.
* Plans to scale up to 8000 motorcycles per year.

Whispers from one of the brammoles... the dual motor story is NOT confirmed.

Also, the Macau Grand Prix is not why @brammodesigner is heading to China.

Okay. Here's the article I read earlier:

http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/762/10847/Motorcycle-Article/Brammo-Conducts-Final-Empulse-RR-Test.aspx

Quote
With its current motor specification, Brammo says that it pumps out around 86 horsepower to the back tire. (It is designing a new motor that will pump out twice the amount of power).

Geepers. I wonder how much of that information is supposed to be public. At 3m49s of this video, the image shows sales estimates:

PY1 2,000
PY2 9,750
PY3 22,000
PY4 43,750
PY5 63,500

I'm guessing that those number are cumulative, but 63k bikes looks like a pretty big number to me!

I guess this can't be all that recent news, since the video was posted back in April. Also PY1 was supposed to be 2011, and I don't think that 2000 bikes have been sold (I wonder if, back in April, they were expecting to be selling the Empulse in 2011.)

I'm not sure that a Babel Fish would work in this instance, since technically it feeds off the brainwaves of the person that you are talking to. Since the video is a recording, and the person who was speaking is all the way in Italy and spoke many months ago, I don't think that his brainwaves are available for the fish to feed on. But perhaps the Babel Fish is even more mysterious and amazing that we had thought, and can feed of your own brainwaves as you try to understand the un-understandable language.

Here's what I know about the fish:

I don't know why they are going to China, sorry.

Well while Brian is going to China, some (all?) of the others are heading to Holland....

Smart move. Holland will eat up the Enertia...heck, make an Oranje model (orange with a Holland flag) and it will impossible to keep at dealerships..

Heck, make a Union Jack model in the UK...a  green, white and red model in Italy, etc etc...Europe will love some specialized colors...

Hey guys, new to the forum.  My blog has been getting traffic from here so I thought I'd have a look.

Just some of the "facts" that I know.

1.  Brian told me that they had a new motor that they could have put in the bike for Miller that was about double the power of the current one.  They just chose to play it safe.  And I am fairly certain it didn't come attached to a transmission.

2.  From what I gather from @Motoelettriche they 2 motors combine for 82 hp, and are not 82 each.  I suspect they would be much bigger if that was the case.
