As a young boy during the early 1950's I ran a little business shopping for my neighbors at the local grocery store, about a mile away. I would charge 25 cents to shop for them and bring the groceries back on my bicycle by hanging the bags on the handlebars like that. Of course, in those days, there were only paper bags and they were a lot stronger than they are now. Years of riding around on an 80-pound pre-War single-speed bicycle cemented my desire to own a motorcycle.
