Just wondering why the price is so close to the Empulse???

The Japanese 4 companies have a much wider price difference with similar gas models, sport bike vs. SM.

Probably some combination of the following:

a) Price is purely nominal, no released specs, no release date, don't even know if they'll really make it a product.
b) It may have higher-end/pricier components, similar to what most people upgrade for competition.
c) Planning for a low-volume/high-price launch like Enertia ($12k), then drop price down (Enertia dropped to $8k) once the manufacturing kinks are worked out and/or to spike interest.

I'm amazed Brammo even announced a price for the bike, given that we know almost nothing else.

If the SMS is an Enertia Plus that you can take off road....well some will pay a primium for that....So cost of Enertia Plus, add better shocks and such for off road and add tranny. You have a commuter that is a shifty that blasts the back roads and dirt. I'd pay a couple grand extra for that.


Now that assumes the SMS has similar specs to the Plus (6 kWh battery with commuter range around 80 miles plus, top speed around 65 plus, etc etc.)

Anyone notice that the price of the Engage SMS is listed on Brammo's website at $10,555... or €9.055 inc VAT:

Brammo originally announced the Engage was to be priced at $11,995. Then Zero came along with an updated S at $11,495 So it looks like a bit of a price war going on here  

Also interesting price considering the Empulse is priced at $14,995 and €14,595 inc VAT:

Notice that the VAT is higher in relation to the price in US$.

Assuming 20% VAT, the pre-VAT price is €12,162.50.  12,162.50 EUR  = 15,971.30 USD  at current exchange rates compared to our $13,995.

Hopefully our price in the US won't go up to the EU price when they are finally ready to sell them.

I would like to get the Engage and Encite added to my TCO calculator app, but I still need more information to even make it work. Missing 2 big variables, battery size capacity and range. At this new price, it should be very competitive with its ICE counterparts! Zero should watch out too.

I would expect if it has a swappable battery pack it will be around 3 kwh (40 lbs, give or take).

If so, range should be about that of the Enertia 3.1.
