TTX seat...a placeholder for more info.
« on: June 02, 2013, 07:34:43 PM »
So one of the nice bits of info I learned at Thunderhill (in the sadly way way too short of time there) is that I love the raised TTX seat. I got to sit on an Empulse at the track with the higher seat and it was great. Brian had an extra seat in the race truck and was kind enough to take it out and put it on one of the bikes.

Both Eric and Shelina also prefer the higher seat. Allows them to sit back and be more aero.

Brian told me that he would get the info from the woman who does the seat work and see just how much she would ask to do the modifications (that not only feels great, but looks great too) and that he would post the info here for forum members that are interested.

The downside would be sending her the seat and waiting for it to come back. If I do it I will likely look for a time I am on vacation...or just suck it up and ride my bicycle more. I need it as I am in horrid shape. I blame Brammo :)

This is the exact seat Brian had me sit on...

I guess it was a good thing they had it at the track so they could replace Shelina's original seat that was torn in her early session slide...

tough young lady....

Edit...standard seat..

if you get the chance, could you post a picture of the stock seat and TTX seat side by side?

Yes a pic would be useful for those of us with old scrawny butts who are considering getting a custom seat maker to add some height and some dishing.

Rick Mayer is 215 miles away and Bill Mayer is 349 miles away. Might be my first long-distance trip.

I think the low point is .. less low. Maybe. Hard to tell, need to ride both bikes for a bit to see the difference..

I think I can see that...the low point is less low.  But I am already on my tip toes with the stock seat...if I go higher I'll need shoe lifts!

My inseam is only about 30"...how tall is Shelina?  She always looks flat footed on the bike with the TTX seat.

Like 7racer, I would love to have a lower seat as well.  I'm no 6' 3" Craig Bramscher. ;)

Shelina is really short. I was standing with FreepZ at the awards ceremony at Daytona, he motioned at a girl in the crowd standing with her back to us and wondered if it was Shelina.. I said no way, way too small. I don't know why but she's a giant in my mind or something : p

Anyhow, of course it was. But yes. Definitely low 5'.

Not sure of her height...not overly short.

She was on tip toes coming into the pits on the RR.

Her with me (6 foot even---when not slouching like the old man I am) and Brian.

Somewhere there is a photo of me on an Empulse with the higher seat, but can't find it :(

Here I am on an Empulse with the standard seat...though the bike itself is not totally standard...

Guys,

Here's the company that made the TTX seat(s) for us...

http://newchurchmoto.com/

Ginger is the owner.  She can do some pretty trick, custom stuff and builds some of the seats for Icon's project bikes.  Be warned that she's probably not the cheapest game in town.

Regarding the height - the seat is definitely taller in the saddle section, but still very narrow as well.  I'm 5'9" with a 30" inseam and can still reach the ground comfortably.    I think it's a worthwhile upgrade for those with long legs that may feel cramped with the seat to peg distance.  Gavin is tall with long legs, so I thought his knees might appreciate some relief!
