What parts would you want fabricated?
« on: April 29, 2015, 10:16:20 AM »
So last night, our local bike club had a tech talk about aluminum (fascinating stuff). One of the guys presenting is an engineer for an aerospace company and runs a aluminum fabricating workshop on the side. I chatted with him afterward and mentioned how I ride a Brammo, which is kind of an orphan bike at this point, and there may be some interest in custom parts or even replacement parts, since nobody is making them. So would there be any actual interest? Off the top of my hand, I would think that a chain adjustment replacement part would be neat, just because the current one is kind of janky. He said obviously much depends on the part and the size of the production run, etc... but he was intrigued and has contacts with other fabricators, etc..

Not sure what he would be capable of, but Here are just some thoughts:
  • New rear section (Drop the pillion seat, integrated tail, etc)
  • New swing arm (Maybe something like RR's)
  • Some aerodynamic body pieces to extend range (fairings, etc)
  • Alternative rear fender
  • Alternative battery mounting brackets
  • Smaller lighter radiator
  • Chain adjuster
  • Fender eliminator
  • Rear sets
  • Motor cover
  • Sliders
  • Aluminum replacement to the plastic body parts

If he can have the stuff plated/anodized I'm all for that too.

I would limit it to thing that can be fabricated out of aluminum, which would kick out a good chunk of the list. A nice shiny swingarm would be wicked cool, but probably way too pricey.

Soon we may need an alternative for the front forks as Marzocchi could be shut down soon 😭
At least that's the rumour here...
Once you go EV, gas is history!

I would like to modify colin the bike, I would like to have a hole to place the charger. Buy CHARGER AMPS takes up less space'm trying to build a new fiber colin.

Woodcraft made a batch of sliders which were sold to Brammo in January.  If you can't get them through your dealer, contact service@brammo.com.  At some point you should be able to buy them directly from Woodcraft if needed.  I think I paid $69 plus shipping for the pair, and they use standard woodcraft pucks should those ever need to be replaced.

yesterday I got the news tat my bike ordered in september is finally arrived in europe ( crossing the ocean lost an R and now is a base Empulse )

anyway

after the sumer I will start working on the bike on the following items:

crashbar :
something similar in style to the Ricky Cross of my Transalp http://www.bicilindrici.it/scottoiler/DSCF0035.JPG

T2 plug on side:
removal of yazaki plug from the top and replacement with a T2 plug on bike side ( protected from rain and water) , maybe on the top I will put some LDC with canbus comunication system or charging monitor/counter

Rear of the bike.

COMPLETE rework for :
better passenger comfort
charger upgrade from stock 3,5kw to 10,5 kw for less than 1 hour complete charging
extra batteries for 10-15% more range.

up to now I have the bike , one extra charger , one extra BMS , the T2 plug and EVSE electronic , I will use the bike plain until september/october then the game will begin

Some crash bars would be good. I know first hand what its like to have this bike land on your leg during a low speed high side (spoiler it just breaks right threw it). Anything to add some leg protection without adding too
much weight I approve of right now.

Athlon please share your experience upgrading the electronics as you go I'm very interested in how that goes. I've always kind of felt like that stuff was untouchable but as a man who loved tinkering with gas engines and love to see what I could do to get more range out of this bike.
