Off board charging
« on: January 19, 2016, 09:46:20 PM »
So I started on my off board charging conversion.  Here is how to take everything off:

Once I get all my pictures together I will put the reassembly ppt back up. It did go back together I swear :-)

I assume this is for weight savings? What's the weight savings after the charger is removed (and the extra connectors are installed)?

Cleaned up my charge box and cables.  Original charger cooling fans have been mounted in the charge box.

Hi Vtbrammorider,

i am new to this forum, but i have read quite a lot already. Can you tell me what size these charger fans are? I am thinking of replacing them with some more silent ones, because they are quite noisy and my neighbours in the same garage aren't to happy about it.

Found this fan with same cooling power and 35 dbA compared to the 50.5 dbA of the standardfan. It requires 4 W less and is even IP68 protected.

this is the old fan: https://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/delta-electronics/PFB0612SHE/603-1848-ND/5023775

here is the one, i will replace it with: http://www.ebmpapst.com/de/products/compact-fans/axial-compact-fans/axial_compact_fans_detail.php?pID=160979

What tell you that they have the same cooling power ? The PFB0612SHE is 43.6 CFM while the
632/2HPU is only 25.9 CFM. It is certainly more silent but has almost half the air flow :/

Yes your are right, they don't have the same cooling power. I noticed it myself already. I had a unit conversion error in my head from 43.6 CFM to 44 m³/h.

But nevertheless I have bought 2 of them and will try them as soon as possible. I will keep you posted on the result.
