Enertia owner in WA
« on: April 30, 2010, 09:45:05 PM »
New to the forum but have been an Enertia (green of course) owner since February and enjoying the dry roads of southcentral Washington (while battling the wind on almost a daily basis).  As far as I am aware I am the only Brammo owner in the region although I am constantly getting inquiries at stop light, post-it notes on my parked bike etc. so I am guessing I won't be alone for long.  Never enjoyed my commute to work so much.

I work in a new "green" (LEED certified) building but am still waiting for an official charging station.  Fortunately I found an outlet at the back of the building for charging until they install them.  Apparently I triggered a company wide contract to install charging stations at all of the buildings although I suspect I am the only all-electric vehicle owner to date (I work at a Department of Energy lab so go figure).

Howdy, J-Fred!  Glad you made it here and hope you're willing to share stories, pictures and advice.

That's pretty cool about the charging stations, but as long as you have access to an electrical outlet like you do, you're set.  Charging on the company dime (or the taxpayer's dime  :o ) reminds me of the non-toll-free number for Dial-a-Song (run by They Might Be Giants) and their motto: "Free, when you call from work."

Anyway, good to have you onboard.

Welcome to the forum. I have never talked to so many complete strangers on my commute or near the building where I work about the Enertia. I get such a positive response from people when I tell them it is electric. I turned a fairly boring commute into an adventure.

YO JFred,
Going by the map I may be # 2 in Washington. Live in Issaquah. Was hoping to compare notes on the "tax exempt" status of the Enertia. Did you get any break when registering with the DOL? I have been told the 10% tax exemption excludes motorcycles but I am working on the cost of the batteries including removal and replacement. The Dept of Revenue says if I get a quote on letterhead they may exclude that amount from the sales tax. Lemme know your thoughts!
Thanks
Q
