Anyone notice the barking dogs?
« on: May 01, 2013, 03:03:54 PM »
Perhaps it's because we can hear more of what's going on around us, but I have noticed ever since I started riding my Enertia that dogs tend to bark at me when I ride past.  I wonder if the sound of the motor bothers their ears or if it's something else.

Or is this all my imagination? :o

I have noticed that the pitch of the electric motors is picked more by the TV microphones than by the human ear.  Maybe that is a sign you're right?

I have had that problem for years on some of my IC motorcycles.  The worse dog attractor was my 1962 Vespa.  Dogs (before leash-laws) would chase me all over the neighborhood.  It could get pretty scary at times.

Now I just get barked at and the dog tries to pull its owner into the street as I ride by on my Triumph or BMW.  However, my Zero doesn't seem to offend them much and I can pass by quietly, with neither of us being disturbed.   :)
