Stuttgart Wavetrophy world record parade
« on: June 07, 2014, 05:48:25 AM »
Went with my Enertia+ from Antwerp to Stuttgart to the Wavetropy world record parade.

Took me 5 days to get to Stuttgart, 1 day for the parade, 1 day rest and visiting Sinsheim technik museum and back home (another 5 days).

It's not always been an easy trip. Made some mistakes. Not always easy finding where I could charge or stay overnight. But did meet a lot of interesting people and saw interesting things on the parade and on the trip.

Made some photo's of the motorcycle's.

Looks like a great event.
What can you tell us about that Swiss bike in photo 5 and 7? it looks really cool!
And I noticed the Tacita in your photos too, so I guess they are in production.

Love your last photo of the French Vectrix with the hitch. Did it have extra batteries in there?

It's completely homebuilt by Hugues Laliberte.
You can find the build thread here: http://www.elmoto.net/showthread.php?2141-e-Cruiser-version-1-0-build-thread

There was not a connection to the vectrix  but there they had some (spare ?) battery's in it.
Added some photo's of the hitch: https://picasaweb.google.com/106983087011221739123/MotorbikesAtTheWAVE?authkey=Gv1sRgCI-kt8idpuCbBQ

There were even two of them, such a pity that Vectrix as a company is gone though.

I spend a few hours last night to read all about that e-Cruiser build. What a great story that is! Thanks for sharing it.

Impressive! So how long or far did you ride before you had to charge? Did you ride until the batteries were almost empty or did you go for more, shorter trips and shorter charge times? I suppose about 7 hours charging from near empty to full will take a big bite out of your day, but on a full charge I guess you can only ride for about two hours, if you don't go too fast? (This weekend, I managed to do about 80km, from 100% down to 50% SoC - but that was in warm weather and never really going faster than 50, 60 km/h)

Normally I take 1% for 1 km. This was my first mistake. Germany isn't as flat as my normal roads and going uphill needs more power.

> Did you ride until the batteries were almost empty or did you go for more, shorter trips and shorter charge times?

Normally driving day: start at 9, do top up charging (or sometimes more then one) and getting to my next hotel, B&B or pension. In my planning I took 1h charging = 15 km more (can I please have a faster charger for my next trip )

> I suppose about 7 hours charging from near empty to full will take a big bite out of your day,

You don't want to do that, 2 hours at a McDonalds is more than enough for me. I've tried to find top-up charging places where there is something to eat/see/do but I was sometimes happy I could simple charge. Full charging was at night. I special asked a charging place when I booked a sleeping place.

The first thing you have to do is planning your trip and search for charging and sleeping places.
But as always there will be surprises: charging places not working or not to be found, the evil word: Umlautung, charge pass thenewmotion not working on Ladenetz chargers, holidays (29mei) => everything closed
I've luckily had a laptop with me so I could always change my route when necessary.

Yep, it was fun but not always easy...

Well, it's sponsored by a bank in Germany (the same bank that advertises on the charging station, apparently), it says "I drive with power" on the back of it, and...that's about all I can deduce from the photo.

Do any of you have information on the red vehicle in this photo?

As already said, yep it is a Renault Twizy.
In Europe this is not a car but a quadricycle so the manufacture has to do less test to get it road legal. And now there are some questions about the security of the Twizy and other quadricycles. http://www.euroncap.com/Content-Web-Article/f86b4696-d5b6-4996-a2bc-b29f07ad8c84/euro-ncaps-spotlight-falls-on-heavy-quadricycles.aspx

Normal the Twizy comes without the side windows, it's an option recently added.

There are a lot of review on the internet like this one: http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-review/renault/twizy

As already said, yep it is a Renault Twizy.

In september of last year I was in Heemskerk to show my Enertia+ at an event organized by the shop where I'd bought my bike. There was a Twizy there too, and I took it for a (slow) spin around the square. I was not really impressed, but I don't remember why anymore.

Here's a picture to add to the Brammo with other EV's collection:
