Liquid cooling questions (sevcon)
« on: January 05, 2016, 01:30:32 PM »
Working on liquid cooling for the controller and wanted to see if anyone has found a better cooling plate solution than this at 140$

Bleeding is taking approximately forever... the angle of the cooling plate makes air enjoy hanging out there but at this point it seems to be not leaking so I switched over to ahrma legal coolant.  I'm able to run the pump off of the wall which I plan to keep as a feature for the future.

On the track if you can overcome your batteries overheating (which I do by precooling them) the next weakest link is the controler.  This is an attempt to keep the bike from going into thermal cutback due to the controller.  Unfortunately I won't be able to test it until March because detroit weather doesn't like motorcycles.

I ran it at NOLA and at gingerman.  Not perfect but it does seem to give me an extra lap or so before thermal cutback.

How about some thermoelectric cooling?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thermoelectric_cooling

Does take some oomps from the battery but might be worth it in the end...
