Just took my body panels off

I'd say "easy as pie" but I'm only 98% done. I just got some guidance from BrammoJen about disconnecting the power button cord so should be at 100% soon.

It's a rite of passage.

I have only taken off the side panels.

What is the reason for a complete panel removal? Maintenance of some sort?

I got a fault code that requires I check some fuses.  BrammoJen offered to take the trip out but I asked her if there was some things that I could do myself.  I'm about halfway through the checklist.

I'm on some other motorcycle forums and they all talk about doing a lot of their own maintenance.  I started to think -- Hey, I need to know how to do some of this....get my hands dirty.

The thing is, I've stripped off the panels, unplugged about four plugs, un-bolted a big ass fuse, and the only thing I've gotten on my hands is some road dust.  This thing stays pretty clean inside those panels.

You should take the body panels off sometime.  It looks pretty cool, actually.

That is a good idea. Learning how it is all put together would give you an advantage to keeping it working properly. I have thought about cleaning the dirt and dust that must be accumulating under the panels, but it is nice to hear that the panels do a good job of keeping it pretty clean.

I would also like to try to fix my Enertia using phone support if I ever have an event where it is required.

I agree that they look cool without the panels.

Good luck. If you do replace a few fuses, it might be a good idea to document the repair with pictures to to help other Brammo owners if they need to do the same thing. It might even make it a worthy topic for a certain Brammo blog.

You know, I was reading a post over on elmoto about a guy that zapped some of his circuits and it occurred to me: Thank goodness I can follow directions.  I'm sure that the directions provided to me by BrammoJen were in the order provided precisely because it protected me from electric shock.  Just a few hours ago I was removing a nut from a threaded stud to get to the 150 amp fuse it held.  If I hadn't followed steps 1-7 right before that, I think I could have (possibly) discharged the energy from a 35+ mile trip on the bike right through my body... in a second. 

And hey, don't tell me that I was never at risk.  It makes me feel all tingly and macho.

One thing that you Brammo Enertia owners should check: make sure that all those bolts holding your body panels on are present and reasonably snug.  The owner's manual says they should be torqued at .7 foot pounds. Brammo Enertia Owner's Manual, 2010 edition, p. 55. 

I have to take pictures of my bike with the panels off before Thursday, when a certain Brammo Tech is paying me a visit.
