Hello out there
« on: December 31, 2010, 01:33:09 PM »

Just logging in here so I'm not lurking in the member list.
Saw the Enertia at Green Car Drive Expo in Richmond and I became a member then. I have many years of motorcycle riding experience from age 14 when I had a Honda 90. Have owned about a dozen motorcycles and probably put on (way) over a 100k miles. Currently riding a BMW K75 but had a K100-RS before that. I love to ride in the Bay Area. Skyline and Alices on the peninsula, and Richard whose daughter lives in Fairfax makes me think of that wonderful Fairfax-Bolinas road, what a blast.

But for some time now I have been an EV person. I just sold my first converted car, a Rabbit pickup which I drove for about 10 years. I also have the mini chopper you see as my profile picture, (hope I can change that at some later date), and a Scooter which I have converted is a test bed for all kinds of battery chemistry, (currently LiPoly pouch cells, 25.9V 10ah). I love these LiPo's I can push them much harder than anything else I have ever tried, I mean 3 to 5C for minutes at a time, so much that my motor is finally going to burn out.

My interests are primarily about the battery and drive system. I'll have to go to the tech section and ask more questions there. However, I am an avid motorcyclist with 30+ years riding on many platforms. And I know tons (too much probably) about electric drive systems.

So, yeah! I want the Empulse 10. Still have the money from the Rabbit, could sell the Beemer for maybe 3K to the right buyer, and I could also sell my extra VW bus, and that would just about be enough. Now I just need to decide if this really is the year to move into a new house. Oh well?

My commute to work is only 2.6 miles one way and I have a BIONX bike conversion (PL350) with about 8000 miles on it (commute was 7.5 mi last year) so I don't really need any vehicle.

But I sure wish I had one!!!

Hi Breemo, and welcome to the forum.  Glad you were able to work out the posting issue.  Sounds like you have some valuable EV experience to share.

I'm kind of on the run today but I wanted to make sure you knew that someone is, in fact, watching the forum.

Happy New Year to you.

Hey Breemo,

Which part of the bay area are you located? I used to live in Campbell, but now live in Stockton (San Joaquin Valley). Most of my rides these days are east to the foothills, or northwest to the wine country.

Lucky you know electricity! I wish I understood more about it. I pre-ordered an Empulse and plan on riding it home from the San Carlos Best Buy... can't wait!

Hey Oobflyer,
Thanks for the reply.
Albany is right above Berkeley, so think about that next time you go to San Carlos.
If everything goes right I'm gonna attend the upcoming TTXGP at
Infinion in exactly one month. You should go too.
Cheers,
Rich
