Take another look at the 2011. Completely new. And you can buy it now!!

The thing that interests me most is the maintenance free belt drive and other upgrades.

Never liked the zero look for some reason....

What I like:

1) quick charge option...I wish/hope Brammo offers that...I would pay extra.

2) can buy now

What I don't like compared to Enertia plus. 

1) 10k gets you 58 miles range max on the Zero vs 9k gets you 80 miles range on the Plus.

2) prefer the style of the Plus.


I like belt drive, but it depends...on my scooter I have to change the belt every 6k and it is fairly expensive...if the O chain last as long as why say it will be much cheaper than a belt.

A good O-ring chain, like a DID, should last for the life of the motorcycle on an electric bike. I typically get around 35,000 miles on a DID 525 chain on a 4-cylinder motorcycle, like my Yamaha FZ1. Chains hate being hammered by something like a single-cylinder engine, but the more cylinders you have and the smoother your engine runs, the longer the chain will last. Being as no IC engine is as smooth running as an electric motor, I would expect a very long chain life on an electric motorcycle. But I will admit that I hate the task of oiling the chain and cleaning up the resulting mess all over the rear wheel and swing arm after a few miles on the road.

Personally, I don't like the looks and the range of the Zero. Actually, before Brammofan told me more about the Empulse, I tried to get a Zero. The customer service there is not great. They just wouldn't reply to my questions and, after promising me they would arrange a test ride, they simply never got back to me.
Moreover, for the price, I rather pay a bit more and get the Empulse. I can't see any other electric motorcycle that even compares to it in the price range.
But, I agree that the fact that I can't buy it now is a bit frustrating as it is Virginia's lack of incentives.

2011 is a significantly improved bike over 2010. More range, fixed the brakes, quieter and maintenance-free belt.

It sounds like the Enertia Plus is getting very close to having production bikes in the hands of owners and reviewers *fingers crossed*, so expect to see comparison tests shortly.

The Empulse is in a completely different category - both performance-wise and in the can't-buy-me-anytime-soon category : (

I have test ridden the Zero a couple of times and the riding position feels strange to me. I feel like my hips have to rotate forward to reach the pedals and that causes me to lean forward on the handlebars. I currently ride a V-Strom which lets me sit with a very upright and relaxed posture. I could probably get used to the Zero's stance but it feels strange to me at first. I'm a little worried because the Empulse riding position in the promo video looks similar to the Zero's to me. The rider is sort of hunched up over the handlebars. This may be due to the fact he's riding aggressively and I do know they're working on several riding configurations so I'll reserve judgment. I suspect I could adapt to any riding position if it got me onto an electric bike!

When the Empulse was on display at Laguna Seca, it had upright bars instead of the clip-ons that it was wearing in the video.
