When (or if) you get your Empulse, how much customization are you going to do on it?

The bike is like a Lego set. I'm going to take it apart and make a new bike with the pieces.

I'm not going to mess with the frame, but I'm ready to strip the bike down to the bones and build it up the way I want it.

I'll replace anything that can be replaced (e.g. suspension), but without changing the basic structure.
3 (27.3%)
I'll replace anything that's easily replaceable (e.g. mirrors).
2 (18.2%)
I'll keep the bike mostly as is and only add what is missing (e.g. windshield).
6 (54.5%)
I want to keep the bike in it's original shape, without any modifications at all.

How much will you change?

Are you the king of customization, a collector who likes to keep their stuff in the original packaging, or something in between?

On my scooters I would change tons of stuff...on of the good things about 2 strokes, TONS of mods out there.

With the Plus I will likely do little. On the loaner the only things I've changed are the chain and adding the foot pegs...

I thought about changing the mirrors, but not much reason to on a loaner...

Now the Plus comes with the better chain and better mirrors...

Still, maybe bar end mirrors....definitely foot pegs. Maybe a windshield (not sure yet on that--if it is easy on and off, might get for winter riding). Probably side bags. Definitely painting the boomerangs.

But nothing "inside"...

Now if Brammo makes a side car with 6kWH or so of batteries under the seat, well that I might have to get :)

Maybe change the color to something non-standard, add an electronic mod.

Recon Instruments is working on a HUD that started for snow boarders/skiers, but they are talking of making it work for motorcycle helmets. 2 features I am looking forward to is navigation (know where I am going, how far I have gone) and use of bluetooth camera (currently supports Contour cameras; I see it as a rear view camera, 170 degree lens).

I know I am a big computer nerd... so sue me!

Rearview HUD would be awesome.

Bluetooth isn't fast enough for decent video, but there's plenty of other ways.

I am not too worried about the slowness of bluetooth. If used like a rearview mirror in a car, quick glance at it, quick glance to the lane your moving into. Plus, everything I mentioned is still new. In time, it will get better, might switch to a WiFi connection.

I bet an optical link would have the requisite channel capacity. :)

Or, if you're into real-time and have no need to actually record what's behind you:

Yeah, it's a helmet with a built-in rearview system.

I'd love to try one out.

The racer in the video said that he is a supporter of using it on the track. I can't believe they even allow it. Feeling where the other riders are and anticipating their moves is a big part of racing. And showing someone your wheel would have really no effect with a helmet like that.

Been watching/waiting for the Reevue for years.  I also had HUD on my helmet, called a SpoertVue.  The company has long since gone out of business, but I really liked it.  With tach and speed being fed to me with a slight glance up of the eye, I found I almost never looked at my dash, which meant I kept leaving my blinker on.
