In 3 weeks I start driving out to SECA.
« on: July 03, 2012, 03:59:50 PM »
I plan to drive from Albuquerque to Needles on Tuesday the 24th, then Needles to Salinas on Wednesday...So I have Thursday to try and do a lot of "Monterey" things. Aquarium, Sea Kayaking, etc. The race is Saturday and Sunday, but I plan to help Brammo with any little projects they need...and by help I mostly mean get horribly in the way.

I leave Monday morning and stop in Las Vegas for the night...I plan to take the Enertia up and down the strip as many times as I can till the battery is dead....LOTS OF PEOPLE to show the bike off to.

Plus I can video the ride up and down the strip...Lots of good photo opportunities in Vegas.

Anybody want to meet any any of these stops, let me know...

Needles, July 24th, early evening.
Salinas, July 25th, early evening.
Monterey, July 26th, all day.
SECA, 27th, 28th, 29th.
Las Vegas, 30th, early evening till dawn :)

Gavin

practiced getting my bike in and out of the truck by myself...

and yes, she isn't tied down, I was just getting her in and then out...

Wish I could go. Would be nice to meet some of the Forum/Brammo folks. Question: Does your tailgate cage double as a loading ramp?       Doug

yep...

getting the bike in is a breeze...getting out is a bit trickier...though I'm sure it will get easier.

an important thing to have is a step stool to walk up into the bed of the truck with the bike.

Ok...so TOMORROW I leave for SECA.

A slight change...a coworker convinced me that Needles in July is silly...108 degrees and nothing to do.

So instead I am going to Las Vegas...100 degrees, but I get to ride the strip on the Enertia at night.

Of course I am already doing that on the way back, but having 2 chances to ride the strip beats one chance to sit in my room in Needles watching the world catch on fire.

So:

Tues--Albuquerque to Las Vegas...Unload the Enertia and drive the strip
Wed--second slight change....Las Vegas to Big Sur to Salinas...adds over an hour to the drive, but the drive along the coast is just beautiful.
Thurs-Help set up Brammo at Seca. Special group ride and then dinner at Bubba Gump.
Fri-Sat-Sun--All day at SECA...take down and pack up Brammo
Mon--Salinas to Las Vegas...unload the Enertia and drive the strip again
Tues--Vegas to ABQ

A FULL WEEK for this old man. Smiley

Yeah...if IF I'm feeling energetic, I plan to ride the strip at night and then again at 7am...just to get a feel for how different it feels at night vs early morning

But I also have a long day of driving on Wednesday since I'm during the coastal route...so I might just load and go at 7 instead.

Hard to blog away from my computer...certain comforts become requirements...but I will soldier on.
