New Firmware update?
« on: January 05, 2014, 07:53:37 PM »
Just got a call from my dealer that there was a firmware update that they real suggest I install.

Anyone know what it addresses?

Dunno, but I got mine done last week. No detectable difference.

I used to opportunity to let the dealer change the brake fluid, something I usually do myself annually. I guess I feel guilty that these bikes, other than Brammo warranty work, generate so little income for the dealer. $50 was worth not getting my funnels and syringes and tubing and gloves dirty.

I got an update back in October that supposedly killed the S85 codes for good.  Would this be the same update?  Unfortunately the version number shown on startup is the same (I detected an internal change in the bytes in the log that may indicate the firmware version changing, but I couldn't find a way to view that on the LCD display).

So the firmware version number is in the chip only, but nothing changes on the dash LCD? Is it easy to find when loading up the chip in a computer?

Gerhard, where did you see that information?

Shiny - the only place I noticed a difference in my logs was the last few characters of the C line (seen near the top of any log file in the Enspector) went from 01.01 to 01.04 during the time that it was in for service...

got the firmware update today and did a quick ride.
I think it's still the same version 2.05?

I spoke to the tech and he mentioned it was to smooth out the transition from power to regen.  That is it doesn't suddenly kick in.

It seemed much more smooth FWIW....

I just received a certified letter from Zero requesting that I report to my dealer ASAP to have the firmware updated for my 2012 S.  This also affects all of the 2013 models too and is designed to solve a "quits-while-running" glitch.  I note that it applies to a total of about 667 motorcycles, which gives you an idea how many bikes Zero manufactured (but not necessarily sold) during the past couple of years.
current bikes: 2018 16.6 kWh Zero S, 2011 Royal Enfield Bullet 500 Classic, 2009 BMW F650GS, 2007 BMW R1200R, 2005 Triumph T-100 Bonneville, 2002 Yamaha FZ1 and a 1978 Honda Kick 'N Go Senior.
