Fast Access Pin
« on: June 16, 2015, 06:24:02 PM »
This was an accidental modification. I wasn't paying attention and stripped the nut tighten the seat. So I had to figure out what to do without buying a new seat. SO I found these "Fast Access Pins" from Sargent Cycle. They specialize in high end OEM replacement seats. http://www.sargentcycle.com/ When it comes time to replace my seat I will be getting mine from them.
Of course the fix didn't come that easy.  When I tried to drill out the nut it twisted and ripped out. So now what? I took some measurements and found these aluminum spacers. http://aluminumspacers.com/
The next problem was the pin is long and I was worried about it poking through the seat so I found a plastic cap and a steel washer that fit inside the cap that would prevent it from coming through the seat. I super glued the cap inside the seat. I then had to file out the hole to fit the spacer.  I then applied some Locktite Epoxy on the inside of the hole and inserted the spacer. I made sure everything fit and let it sit for 24hrs. This worked GREAT! I am extremely satisfied with this mod and although it was by mistake I came about this I am extremely satisfied it had a happy ending.
Actually Mine,
