On July 1, 2018 I participated in the Refuel TT track event. I signed up for the track day but didn't sign up for the TT however. I changed my mind and wanted to participate but they said they couldn't sign me up anymore =( Apparently there were so many bikes signed up they had to turn some riders down, so sign up early if you want to compete. I could have put a lap time in for a Victory Empulse TT as I don't think the Victory has ever been in this event.
Even if you didn't ride or drive on the track it was great to oogle all the cool cars and bikes out there. The Mission Motors Mission R superbike was out there, he was actually my neighbor I got to chat with him quite a bit nice guy. Lightning Motors was out there showing off their LS-218, unfortunately they didn't run it. They even has a small pit electric pit bike. Energica was there with the Ego and a Eva Esse Esse. Chris who I rode the demo ride of the Energica Eva was there was good to hangout with him and he actually placed first in the production class for the motorcycles. Hollywood Electrics was there and Zero Motorcycles. probably 80% of the bikes at the event were Zeroes. I was the only Empulse unfortunately, I was hoping to see another Brammo or Victory. There were lots of cool cars like the Radical, Model 3, a Zero powered Porsche 911, and a bunch of other evs.
So to prep for the event I pretty much just got my racing gear together and towed the bike to Laguna Seca early that morning. I took the airseat cover off. Taped my lights, disconnected my headlight. Lubed the chain and checked the tire pressure. My bike is pretty much stock performance wise except I have the 13 tooth countersprocket now. I also brough a Duosida Level 2 EVSE with me, I should have brought the level 1 charger also because I had a hard time finding power because of all the EVs at the event.
Here is the coolest thing to happen to me that day! I was out oogling around and I come back to my bike and Brian Wismann is checking out my bike. Brian Wismann used to work for Brammo and now works for Zero. He helped design the Empulse. He asked me a buncha questions about my bike. He said he still has the Empulse race bike also but he works for Zero now so he doesn't ride it. I got him to take a picture with my bike. That is so cool to meet someone who helped make the bike you're riding. He got 3rd place in the modified class I think.
