I believe that it is, except in one very important way: You can own a Zero S today. As in, right now, and you don't have to wait until next year to get one. You can also buy a Roehr e-SuperSport today, and there are probably a few other bikes available out there.

But I'm going to wait for the Empulse because I believe that it is going to offer me the best value (reasonable price, well built, good specs, good customer service, etc.). I may be wrong about Brammo, but the participation of Brammo staff on this forum does inspire confidence. (Now if they could just get an Empulse into my hot little hands sooner, I could stop dreaming and start enjoying... )

The Zero S is a little faster and has a slightly larger battery than the Enertia 3.1. It is significantly lighter than the Empulse and has lower peak and sustained speed, as well as less battery capacity than even the Empulse 6.0.

I believe (Edit: incorrectly) the Zero S battery pack is also swappable, which would make it suitable for endurance racing with a couple spare packs and fast chargers.

I dont think the Zero S has a swappable battery, your thinking of the XU with the miniscule 2kWh battery. The Zero S looks much better this year, but for what you would pay just wait for the Empulse, way better value IMO.

Are they actually stocking Zero S somewhere? Back when I was considering a Zero they made it sound like they were available but in reality they were running quite a backlog on the production. In fact kinda like Brammo is dealing with on the new models, except Brammo hasn't promised/rumored anything yet in terms of ship dates.

Brammo has certainly proven itself regarding customer service and being well built with the Enertia. Heck if the Plus and Empulse were available right now I'd be trying to talk myself out of upgrading.

Yup, you're right. The 2 kwh packs are the ones that are swappable.
