A bit pricey ($44k) if you ask me.
How much would you pay for an Empulse that went 120 mph and got 185 miles range?

12.0 kwh / 185 miles gives you 65 wh/mile. That's lower than Brammo estimates for the Enertia Plus (6.0 kwh / 80 miles => 75 wh/mile), and much lower than the Empulse estimates (100 wh/mile).

The specs are pretty nice. AC motor means regenerative braking, J1772-compliant is very cool, more top speed than I would ever use on the street. CVT is interesting, considering most EVs are direct-drive. Probably accounts for some of the 530 lb weight.

For $44k? I'm not in the market for a Tesla Roadster or S either.

Brammo's pricing structure would put an Empulse 12.0 at $16k, and it could easily hit 120 mph.

That's a nice bike to be sure. :)

I find it somewhat ironic that they say "Because it is powered by electricity, you can save money on fuel costs" for a bike that costs $44k. :o I don't think that anybody who can afford that bike is too worried about the price of gasoline.

I'm a bit surprised about the regenerative braking. I heard that there was little benefit for that on a bike because most of the breaking is done on the front wheel, which is not attached to the motor. Perhaps it was something that was cheap/easy to include because they are using an AC motor.

Maybe. The same point could be made about someone buying a $8-14k electric motorcycle, when a $2000 gas used bike would "serve just as well" - or even a $2500 used gas bike or used enertia.

Some people will weigh operational costs much higher than initial purchase costs - I think that's true to a limited extent to most early EV adopters. And to some people want the very best technology or an image associated with an expensive vehicle.
