id like 2 buy....

id lik 2 buy... either inertia plus or impulse....

but when??? and which one...
my trip to work is 26 miles ,,, one way..
1st 5 miles is 45mph highway (=59 mph in normal driving)
then 5 miles of 60mph freeway(65-70 mph normally)
then 10 miles of 55mph freeway (60-65)
the last on base at 25mph...

i got PV , and make more energy than i currently use (have about 135$ credit)
so energy use not that much of a concern...

and which bikes gonna come out first?
any planned dealers in Hawaii? (Oahu)

ok... hope i can get some feedback here....

thanks and Aloha

Welcome to the forum.

As things stand right now, it appears that you could use either one for that distance, but if you are looking to go above 65mph on a highway, I would recommend the Empulse. As manufacturing and testing gets underway, you could see some changes in the specs.

Rumor has it that the Brammo Enertia Plus will be released first.

Rough numbers - figure they're within 20%.

25 mph is around 70 wh/mi.
60 mph is around 140 wh/mi.
65 mph is around 160 wh/mi.
70 mph is around 180 wh/mi.

So 5 * 140 + 5 * 180 + 10 * 160 + 1 * 25 = 3.2 kwh approximately.

Both ways would be around 6.4 kwh, with 85% charger efficiency you need 7.5 kwh from the wall (or from your PV system or storage batteries if you charge at night).

And the batteries lose holding over time,,,
So,, probably SHOULD get an empulse,,,
Now to wait,, just took the MSF class this past weekend,,, and itching now to ride,,
Wife says just get a big cruiser (so she wont have to worry
About me tearing up the streets on a sportbike, but I'd rather wait for a Brammo,,,
Would BOTH need the weekly chain lube maintainance after 250 miles???
When you do it every week, I guess you get fast at it huh??? ;D

Congrats on the MSF class. It is the right thing to do in my opinion.

Yes, but I lube my Enertia's chain far more often due to the dirt that collects on it due to my specific commute on dusty backroads. I typically clean and lube the chain twice per week, and yes, you eventually gain efficiency to do a quick job of it.

Ive had Photo-voltaic solar panels for a year now. Have a credit of about $135,,,
Our electric rate is around $.32 a kWh,,
I average about 20kWh a day,,, so I probably won't pay much extra
I electric costs to charge up every day. ,

How much do others pay for electric on the mainland???

This is a bit old, but will give you some idea.

Electricity rates in Ontario are a little messed up. We're with one of the providers, "Hydro One". There's a 3-tier system for off-peak, mid-peak, and peak Time-of-use, along with a 3-tier system for transmission line charges based on what's essentially home density per km of transmission line:

Ontario Hydro One Rates

This math might be off a bit

off-peak 6.2 c/kWh Urban High Density adjusted 11.499 c/kWh
mid-peak 9.2 c/kWh Urban High Density adjusted 14.499 c/kWh
peak 10.8 c/kWh Urban High Density adjusted 16.099 c/kWh

The following charges are for "Urban High Density" which leads to the adjusted charge : "distribution charge 18.44/month, volume charge 2.918 c/kWh, transmission network charge 0.575 c/kWh, transmission connection charge 0.456 c/kWh, debt retirement charge 0.7 c/kWh, rural rate protection charge 0.13 c/kWh, wholesale market service rate 0.52 c/kWh.

Wow,,, that's messed up all right, I've been basically over-producing electricity, because I had
Planned to install air conditioning, but haven't done it,,
Our basic charge is $16, just to be hooked up to the grid,,, and so we don't have to use a battery system to store the electricity we make during the day,,,

With a federal 30% and state 35% tax credit, it just makes sense to install photo-voltaic,, I'll have paid off the system in less than 5 years, and be getting free electric after that ,,,

Btw Hawaii has very good sunshine, even in our "winter months",, and that should make for great motoring when I get my empulse or enertia plus,,,, hopefully in the. Ext couple of months!!!,

We spent 2 weeks in Hawaii on our honeymoon, it was great. Weather is awesome, roads are awesome (most of the roads/highways directly around here are mostly set out in a straight grid-like pattern), best of all no snow/freezing rain  ;D

With those tax credits and the amount of sunshine you get it makes sense to do it.

There were some rebates in Ontario but I'm not sure if they are still available. I do know that right now Ontario has a "feed-in-tariff" program for alternative energy sources (wind/solar/bio-energy) that one can sign up with for 20-year contracts, the rate you'll receive is based on the type of installation (roof-mounted solar will net one 80.2c/kWh).

Wow,,, got my emails about the enertia plus,,,
A little more costly than I'd thought it would be,,,,

And this is even more perplexing that I just picked up a HD 1200 last week,,,
Almost 10 years old, but less than 2000 miles on it,,,

Not gonna be an easy sell to my wife,,, oh well,, maybe the empulse won't be out for awhile, and I could re-sell and make some monsy to help pay for the new empulse,,,

Insurance and safety check registration up to date,,,
Still thinking about the Empulse, but not much hope of getting one, least not of which reason is the price,,,
Going to Vegas this weekend,,, gonna try to parlay the gambling money into 18K+ ,,,

wish me luck!!!!   ;D

Nice job on getting everything ready to go ahead of the Empulse.

Good luck in Las Vegas. My game there is mini baccarat. I use a system that takes advantage of trends (i.e. a win) and does poorly (i.e. a loss) when the hands are consistently choppy. The odds of winning (while against you always) are some of the best you can find at a casino.

Wow,, never played baccarat,,, but last November I played 3 card hold'em at Golden Nugget,,,
Did very well the three days I was there,,, the "new" 3 card game at Red Rock LOOKED like a better
Game, but actually was much worse,,,

Ok, one more day to wait for VEGASSSSSSSZ!!!!!! :o
