Morgan introduces a EV coupe concept w/ gearbox
« on: March 27, 2012, 01:36:51 PM »
Morgans have always been neat (if eccentric) cars - wood-framed sportscars, three wheelers, etc. Wired details a concept car that may be on its way to production.

Specs are a little low for a sportscar:
* 70 kW / 94 hp motor
* 5 speed transmission
* 2755 lb curb weight
* 0-60 in just over 6s
* Top speed of 115 - disappointing with a transmission, but only 94 hp to work with..
* Battery unlisted, range is said to be 120 miles. Probably 24-30 kWh - assuming their range figure is optimistic.

Wood and electricity, plus a transmission and clutch, now that is something different for an EV.

I'll bet Top Gear could destroy it for them.   :o
